Toni Newton graduated a few weeks ago with a Bachelors in counseling & Human services and a minor in psychology. She will be starting her career on Tuesday at The Rowan Helping Ministries as a housing case manager for the veterans . She also had a BEAUTIFUL baby girl!!! Her name is A’Lynn and she is one years old!

Hello! It’s Claire LeHew from the class of 2019 at MICS. I wanted to share my experience in furthering my education beyond high school! I graduated from UNCW in 2023 with a bachelors in Public Health with a concentration in Pre-clinical studies alongside minors in psychology, biology, and chemistry. I am now starting two separate masters programs this coming semester in Behavioral Analysis and Business Analytics! During my undergraduate opportunities, I was able to complete over 200+ hours working with Dr. Jennifer Buxton (PharmD) at Cape Fear Clinic. I am currently still volunteering and working as a registered pharmacy technician as of January 2024. Go raptors!

Had the pleasure of seeing alumn Demico Guy at his brother’s 8th grade Beidging Ceremony. Demico is an Engineering Technician for the Soil and Water Conservation Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. He is also a public member representative on Governor Cooper's Environmental Justice Advisory Board—sworn in and everything! Raptors are making moves!

Josh McGrew finished his four years of college with a Bachelors of Arts in Medicine, Science and Humanities with a minor in Economics (Pre-Med Track) with Honors from Johns Hopkins University

In 2022, Taylor graduated with a BA in International Studies from the University of San Francisco and now works for the Governor Tony Evers in Madison, Wisconsin designing and editing all of his social media content! Amazing!!!

Abigail Mroz finished her four years of college with a Bachelors of science In enterprise risk management at Penn State.

Anthony “AP” Phillips Jr. graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelors of Science, in Business Management on May 3, 2024 and will pursue his Masters degree all while continuing his basketball career. Look at you go!!

Alumni update - Cooper Mitchem graduates from American University with a Masters Degree in International Development with a special focus on Infrastructure in Developing Countries. Way to go, Coop!

Kendall Ellis works full time at a Petco as a Merchandise Operations Leader. She has been in a steady Relationship with her boyfriend Michael for 4 years.

In the past 2 years she’s been graced with being Maid of Honor for two of her closest friends. One being a fellow Alumi, Erin Morgan. And she just finished up a trip to Italy exploring Venice, Rome, and Florence! How fun, Kendall!

Sydney Taylor is graduating from App State this Friday with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education! She is not teaching yet, as she is getting her masters in Reading Education. Way to go Sydney!

Jael (winkler) Tysinger is graduating with her second degree this Friday 5/10/24! In 2020, she received her Associates in Arts from Gaston College. She married her best friend in January of 2021 and has been working as a CNA while being back in school. A huge outlet for her while being back in school has been modeling. So far, she has three fashion shows coming up this year and have walked in four since starting in September of 2021. In just a couple of days she will receive her Associates in Science of Medical Sonography through Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. Just a couple more big tests after graduation and she will be Jael Tysinger, RDMS!

Avery Ward graduated from WCU in 2023 with a B.S. in Emergency and Disaster Management and a B.S. in Criminal Justice. Now residing in High Point with her fiancé. She conducted undergraduate research on resources for First-Generation students that was presented at East Tennessee State University at their annual conference. Proud of you Avery!

Darius Phillips is in his first year with CMS working as a behavior support technician at Southwest Middle School. He is also the assistant defensive coordinator & linebackers coach for the football team, as well as one of the assistant basketball coaches. Nice job, Darius!

Jonah Tincher just graduated earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Yay Jonah!

Briana Jacobs is finishing her second year as a high school English teacher, serving this year as a junior department chair. She is transitioning to middle school for next year and just started a master’s program at Averett university. On a personal note, Briana moved to Virginia. On May 20th she will have been married one year to an amazing person. They bought their first home and are planning many adventures in the next few years!

Jaquel Mungo will be graduating from A&T this Saturday with a bachelors degree in criminal justice and will be pursuing a job with the state of North Carolina as a behavioral specialist at a juvenile detention center.

Sydney (Webster) Davidovic graduated with her Masters degree in Computer Science in December of 2022. And now works for a Global Heath and Medical manufacturing company as their Advanced Business Analyst for the US. In March of 2023 she purchased a house with my now husband who I married in March of 2024!

Anna Davis graduates May 10 from App with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She’s trying to find a job working with children who have disabilities and need speech therapy.

Katie Davis graduated last year from UNCW with a degree in Biology. She’s currently in grad school online with UNCW for Health Care Management. She wants to work with a hospital assisting with clinical research.

Today Ms. Small was acknowledged as April Star Staff Member. Although she is a first year teacher, you would NEVER know. Teaching is her calling and her students are so lucky!

Carter Venancio is Graduating in August with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from University of South Carolina and Sitting for board exams in July!!! Way to go Dr. Venancio!

Hi!!! Life update! Gracie started her Masters in physician assistant studies at Gardner Webb University in January and About to finish her first semester next week! Her goal is to work in emergency medicine after she graduates in May of 2026. She’s been working towards this for 6 years and she’s really proud AS ARE WE!! Way to go Gracie Morrison-Cerda!!!

Karlee Thomas is graduating from UNCC with an Accounting Degree and will continue at UNCC for grad school in the fall to become a Certified Public Accountant. Woohoo, Karlee! Those accounting classes are no joke!
