GSI Engineering
GSI provides practical solutions for your engineering, construction, and environmental projects backed by over 45 years of experience.
Last week on Friday, June 7th, we had the honor of hosting the spring/summer seminar for the Kansas Groundwater Association at Emery Park and the Boeing Landfill in Wichita, KS. GSI/UES put on a demonstration of PFAS soil sampling, coupled with geotechnical sampling techniques, followed by the installation of a groundwater monitoring well following PFAS regulations. PFAS is of interest to the KGWA with the recent regulations installed by the EPA regarding PFAS testing with municipal and residential water wells.
While the demonstration was taking place, Angie Chadd from GSI/UES gave a presentation over PFAS soil and groundwater sampling standard operating procedures. Huge thanks to all who came out to see us and learn more at the seminar!
HUGE congratulations to this trio for big years of service with GSI and UES. From left to right: Matt Tye, P.E., 10 years; Sarah Watson, I.G., 20 years; and Master Driller James Tinnell, 30 years. We are so grateful to have the wisdom and expertise of each of these individuals at GSI/UES over the years!
Congratulations to GSI's Teresa Pfau for her promotion to Project Manager! Teresa is an excellent employee who always has a positive attitude and is someone who takes pride in her work. She is always willing to help where she can and is one of the best bread makers in the Midwest! We're grateful for you, Teresa!
HUGE congratulations to GSI's Alex Pavlovich for passing the Fundamental Geologist exam and officially becoming an intern professional geologist!
Alex is a phenomenal asset to our Wichita Environmental Team. He never hesitates to step in where he is needed and is the first person to offer help when there is any crunch in scheduling or deadlines. His ‘never say no’ attitude has given him the opportunities to learn our GPR unit, resistivity instrumentation, and anything else he gets his hands on. He has become a valuable mentor to our new recruits and his dependability has become a staple of our team. Congratulations, Alex! We are proud of you!

GSI's amazing and knowledgeable Sarah Watson had the opportunity to present at Peterson Elementary USD 259 on Career Day! The students got to learn about what a Geologist does during a typical day (hint: a lot of cool things!), where they work (not just outside!) and how what they would need to do if they pursued a career as a Geologist. Thank you, Wichita Public Schools for letting GSI be a part of the next generation!
Last month, we had the privilege to be a part of the American Society Of Civil Engineers Region 7 Mid-America Student Symposium at Kansas State University! GSI’s Matthew Tye, P.E., and Colin Parker, P.E., partnered with Geoprobe Systems to demonstrate a Cone Pe*******on Test for the Geotechnical competition.
It was a fun day at GSI on Tuesday during – GSI staff were able to attend a presentation and demonstration of fall protection put on by Guardian. We learned so much during our session – from the different types of body harnesses, how to inspect a harness before each use, the difference between fall restraint systems and fall arrest systems. Thank you, Guardian, for coming out to GSI to teach us how to be safe – whether we are high OR low!
Thank you Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita for letting us come and make breakfast! GSI loves the mission of RMHC and are so happy we could make some grub for the families here in Wichita.
Last week, we had the privilege of partnering with Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita during their Career Day. GSI's Matthew Tye, P.E., shared about his area of expertise: Geotechnical Engineering. Thanks to Sunrise Christian Academy for letting us be a part of this special event!
Thank you to the sponsors of SCA Career Day: Goyo's Mexican Fast Food, GSI Engineering and the Reshwan Family! You helped make this day a huge success.
Did you know four amazing people at GSI volunteer their time with the Top City Trails Alliance organization? Formed in 2021, the TCTA helps maintain some of the natural surface trails in Shawnee County. In March, GSI's Rick Bean, Chris James, Lyle Reidy, and Randy Waterman worked together to help fix erosion damage at the Kaw River State Park trail system. Read more about their work here:
