Our Story
Weirdpunk Books publishes horror and weird fiction in the spirit of the diy punk ethos. Our books include The New Flesh: A Literary Tribute to David Cronenberg, Zombie Punks F**k Off, Hybrid Moments: A Literary Tribute to the Misfits, and Blood For You: A Literary Tribute to GG Allin.
Our latest book, The New Flesh: A Literary Tribute to David Cronenberg is a bit of a change for the press. Thus far, our books have all been very punk-forward. While we aren’t opposed to putting our more books where punk takes center-stage, the punk element of the press is more the tradition and spirit in how we operate and do business than the interior aesthetics of our books.
We also recently released a tarot deck/book. The multi-stabber tarot was the legacy project of owner Sam Richard’s late-wife Mo, who died of an aortic aneurysm in 2017. Approximately 40 artists came together to finish the tarot deck that she had started before she died. This is now available as a book/deck set. More info on that is available on the multi-stabber page.
We are shifting gears slightly for 2020, which will see the release of our first handful of novellas. The Mud Ballad by Jo Quenell and Sabbath of the Fox-Devils by Sam Richard will be the first and will come out in the spring. A few more are still in planning stages for later in the year. There will be no 2020 anthology, but we may do more in the future.
Weirdpunk Books was founded in 2015 by Emma Alice Johnson who ran the press for the first few years of its existence before passing the press over to editor Sam Richard in 2018.
