If you have all your content, text and photographs ready, then we can do it in 2 weeks!

This is 1 week for me to set everything up and add the content and the 2 week is agreeing and perfecting everything with you, so you will get a website you’re going to love. Tailored and unique, just like you and your business.

Working with Lindsy to improve her website was different from how I normally work. Lindsy had already created her own business website in Squarespace and was confident in making updates and adding new information.

She was looking for a professional website creator to review her website, somebody to talk to about how to make the content better and give guidance on what works.

Over three sessions I suggested improvements, gave her some advanced Squarespace tuition and showed her some tips and tricks on how to get the best out of Squarespace.

Basically Lindsy picked my brain and it was great fun!

It’s a sad day for Body Shop 🥲

Feeling very proud and happy this morning when I went to visit Nicola Henshaw of in her new shop. Nicola is a business mentoring client of mine who at the end of last year took a big plunge and opened her very own chocolate and coffee shop.
Today was the first day I’ve had time to visit for a lovely coffee and catch up. Plus I came away for some homemade cakes for later.
If you can get to Cheadle, Nicola and her husband John are well worth a visit. You even might be able to see Nicola making her chocolates, as they are all handmade on the premises.
Wishing them a huge success in their new venture.

One thing I really love about creating websites for female business owners is learning all about their business. What they do, how it works, who their customers are....

Meeting Lesley and learning all about her business 'Replicawarehouse' was amazing. Lesley sells a vast range of historical accurate replicas, as well as original and antique objects such as: Food, Clothing, Tableware, Period Costumes, Uniforms, Pottery, Glass and Pewterware, Furniture, Weapons and Armour and a wide variety of related artefacts from Ancient Rome to World War 2 and beyond.

Lesley already had a website but it was very tired, out of date and old fashioned. We worked together to create her a brand new website, which as you can tell from her feedback that she loves.

I don’t deliver +100 images, which actually repeat themselves with a tiny ‘nuance’.

I take more than that though in a photoshoot.

As a habit from working in Media for years, for example, if I am asked to deliver 10 images, it have to be 10 ‘different plans of images’. Not 10 images repeating themselves.

I do not make you blind in numbers, but also make sure you get a rich variety of options on your photoshoot.

Two surprise things happened yesterday when I was at the Sparkly 60 lunch….

1. I won an award from for ‘Best Greeter 2023’ at Creative Connecting in Cheshire events. 🏆

Do you know that over 55% of people visiting your website use a mobile phone?

This means that your website needs to look and work equally as good on the largest computer screen to the smallest mobile phone screen. This is known as responsive website design.

I've been working with the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists for over 4 years, after I rescued them from website developers who let them down numerous times. They are a lovely, friendly group of ladies and it's a pleasure to work with them.

You might have noticed that last week I changed the name of this page from 'Karen - Your Business Mentor' to 'Karen - Your Website Creator'. So I thought I'd give you a little explanation why....

Websites are nothing new to me, in fact I've been creating websites since 2000, as I used to do websites in my corporate job. When I started working for myself in 2015, if a client needed help with a website either creating a new one or improving one they already had, then I would help them out. Since the pandemic I've gradually been doing more and more website work until now the balance has shifted and these days I'm spending more time doing websites than I am being a business mentor.

I'm definitely not stopping being a business mentor, it's just at this present moment it makes more sense to be a Website Creator first and a Business Mentor second.

And the two skill sets definitely complement each other, as my business expertise helps with knowing what to say on a website and how to say it!

Yesterday I spent some time helping a fellow female business owner with an issue on her website. She had a pop-up button that was annoying and getting in the way and wanted to remove it.

She asked her website developer to remove it several times and it didn't happen. Eventually she got admin access to her website and tried to remove it herself. Unfortunately it didn't work. So she posted her dilemma in a Facebook group and I came to her rescue.

Why am I telling you this story? It's because I hate this type of customer service by certain website developers, it shows they don't care after the website is finished and after they've been paid.

1. Why didn't the developer just remove it when asked? (it would have only taken a few minutes)
2. Why didn't the business owner already have access to edit her own website?
3. Why hadn't the developer given her training on how to update her website?

I always give my clients access to edit their own website and training on how to make small updates. Imagine every time you wanted to edit a small bit of text or change a price, you had to go back and ask your developer. It's madness!!

The other day a client of mine even managed to add a new page to her website with some content. How wonderful is that?
