✌️Two new woven cotton blankets by Bay Area artist Linda Geary!
👉Made in the USA by Open Editions in collaboration with
👉Available online or shop in person everyday from 11am-7pm at 788 Valencia St, SF

Linda Geary is a painter whose work is inspired by material processes of cutting, revision and repair. She uses collage and other approaches that reference actions of sewing and construction. Other parts of the process involve erasure, invisibility and camouflage. Textiles provide an alphabet of shape, color and pattern that she works with in order to let the work “fall apart” in order to experiment with different ways of putting it back together. Her work has been shown in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, and Otranto, Italy, including exhibitions at Berkeley Museum/ Pacific Film Archive, Oakland Museum, and Yerba Buena Center For the Arts. Residencies include Yaddo, MacDowell, and Kriti in Varanasi, India. She has received an Elizabeth Foundation grant and two Po***ck Krasner Foundation grants. Her permanent public mosaic River, was installed at the International Terminal at SFO in 2020. She is Professor and Chair of Painting at California College of the Arts in San Francisco, and lives and works in Oakland.

𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, Woven cotton blanket, 54"x72" Made in the USA by Open Editions in collaboration with

Cathy Lu's work manipulates traditional Chinese art objects and symbols as a way to deconstruct assumptions about Asian American identity and cultural authenticity. By creating ceramic based sculptures and large scale installations, Lu explores what it means to be both Asian and American, while not being entirely accepted as either. Unpacking how experiences of immigration, cultural hybridity, and cultural assimilation become part of the larger American identity is central to her work.

For a special edition with Open Editions + , Lu designed 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, a blanket inspired by her installation of the same name featured in "Interior Garden", Lu's 2022 installation at the Chinese Cultural Center in San Francisco.
