Aimee Takaya has been teaching movement and working with different bodies for over 12 years. She is a Certified Hanna Somatic Educator and Somatic Yoga Teacher.
It is her passion to help you connect with your body in new, exciting and empowering ways.
For years, Aimee Takaya lived in chronic pain and confusion, wondering why her body was still in pain despite her rigorous and dedicated yoga practice. Through Hanna Somatic Education, she has not only come to understand why she had this experience but also the way her body (and yours!) is designed to release stubborn patterns of tension, stress and pain. She has received mentorship from Eleanor Criswell-Hanna, her father William Davis (also a HSE) and Lawrence Gold.
She works with heart-led leaders to help them develop their somatic awareness so they can:
-release muscular tension and pain
-perform at a higher level in all they do
and impact the world with their Radiance!
Aimee guides somatic movement internationally over zoom and organizes powerful somatic retreats in the Greater Los Angeles area. She currently offers hands-on facilitation in Western New York.

Dr. Haransky-Beck will spend time giving a brief synopsis of the five parts of her newly released book. In addition, as a specific example of natural eyesight improvement based in movement, we’ll learn about the early embryology underlying the homologous movement pattern (upper and lower body). We’ll move through an exploration of arch and flatten and arch and curl through their embryologic origins. Then we'll connect the dots so we understand the application to an understanding of the basis of the somatic (felt sense, experience of movement) visual development (or redevelopment) of smooth near to far focus and vice versa.
Elisa Beth Haransky-Beck, OD, FOVDRA, MA is a Neurodevelopmental Optometrist; She is a Fellow, Optometrists in Vision Development and Rehabilitation (OVDRA, formerly COVD); Master of Arts in Spiritual Nutrition, Spiritual Nutrition Counselor; Somatic Movement Therapist/Educator; EmbodyVision Somatic Yoga Teacher.

What are some of the definitions you’ve come across from other modalities such as yoga, Pilates, Feldenkrais, Myofascial Release, and more. We’ll start with Hanna Somatic Education and how Thomas Hanna spoke about the “core” and go from there. How have you applied your understanding of the “core” in your clinical work and teachings? What IS Hanna Somatic Education?
Hanna Somatic Education® (also known as Hanna Somatics) is a rapidly effective form of neuromuscular (mind-body training) movement re-education that goes directly to the root cause of most chronic muscular pain: the brain and the way in which it senses and organizes the muscles and movement. By learning to regain both awareness, sensation, and motor control of muscles – an educational process that can only be achieved through movement – the brain can remember how to relax and move the muscles properly. This process of sensory motor training creates improved muscle function and enhanced sensory awareness.
Hanna Somatic Education® is a safe, gentle and common sense approach to reverse chronic pain. It is the only method of pain relief and sensory motor training that targets the condition of SENSORY MOTOR AMNESIA (SMA).
Sensory Motor Amnesia is the condition of chronically-tight muscles that have learned to stay contracted due to repeated and reflexive response to stress such as accidents, injuries, surgeries, repetitive tasks, and on-going emotional stress. The resulting patterns of muscular contraction that develop result in such common conditions as chronic back pain, neck, shoulder and hip pain, limited mobility, joint pain, poor posture, shallow breathing, and uneven leg length.
Hanna Somatic Education® particularly helps relieve pain and disability associated with common health complaints such as: headaches, stiff or painful joints and muscles, fatigue, poor posture, breathing problems, impaired movement, accident trauma and whiplash effects, back pain, repetitive use/stress injuries.
