Without looking closely at these pictures, you can tell that I had an interesting interview.

Interviewing one of the foremost Ethiopian coffee maker in Greater Manchester offered a lot of insights into the hard work, resilience and dedication required to become a business owner in the UK.

Despite facing moments of rejection, pain, and disappointment, her smile and laughter never wavered. She refused to let those setbacks hold her back.

It is just not possible for me to sit next to such a remarkable person for 45 minutes and not soak up some of that positive spirit. You can see the reflection on my face from within.
Like a magnet, I hope you can also attract this positive energy in this new month.

𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧! 😂
April 1, 2024 is unique because it marks three special occasions:
👉 April fool’s day
👉 Easter Monday
👉 First Day of the Month

What these three events have in common is that bring smile to your face. My son and I are also beaming with that smile 😁
We went Easter egg hunting and it was incredibly fun 😆 . The highlight of the day was when my Gerard got his face painted in his favourite super hero character-Spiderman. To make the day even more special for him, I also got my face painted as Spiderman 😂 . The joy on his face was priceless and in that moment, I felt like a child again.

Mum and Dad, it is okay for you to be a child sometimes. In fact, that is when you get to experience an amount of joy and happiness you haven’t felt in a long time.

Here is my son and I wishing you priceless joy in this new month 😄

𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐈 𝐖𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 𝐔𝐏 𝐌𝐘 𝐅𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐘- 𝐀𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐈𝐓𝐕 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐬
I had such a great time networking with fellow media professionals at the freelancers networking event hosted by Meeting creatives in the media and production space, learning from others, creating connection, having meaningful conversations and forward thinking discussions was refreshing.

While I enjoyed the networking, what was even more enjoyable was listening to industry specialists- Sarah Williams, Lee Rayner, Claire Wilkie and Tim Guilder as they shared their career journey in the media industry-It was inspiring, especially hearing Claire Wilkie share some of her experiences as a young female CEO in a male dominated industry.

The panel session anchored by Tony Gregory offered great insight on how thr development and adoption of new technologies is advancing media production. As much as some do not like to admit it, that is the reality now.
👨‍💻 AI for instance is increasingly becoming an instrumental tool for me as a visual journalist but like Tony Gregory said:
"AI is not creative.
AI is a statistical tool.
Creativity is about what doesn't yet exist".

That is the mindset I am taking into this new month. A creative mindset! I will be channelling my inner creativity to birth new stories that AI cannot create.

📽 I started this new documentary storytelling project some weeks back, and it has continued to inspire me.
 
👫 A lot of the stories the interviewees have shared and the experiences I have been privileged to ask questions about are truly amazing and ground-breaking.
 
Sitting to interview the contributors goes beyond merely asking questions, it means expanding viewers' knowledge, shaping stories, and forging new perspectives.
 
I am enthusiastic about the finished production of this documentary because I believe it will shape the way we understand the people around us.
