(EDIT: The quality drops so much when I upload vids to Facebook, sorry all :-( But it seems much worse on desktop so best to try watching on mobile if you can... Need to look at software that might be more compatible with Facebook! Open to suggestions...)
A quiet first day back as lots of people still enjoying the extra bank holidays, but it was so nice to see the dogs again! Here's a wee video for your viewing pleasure βΊοΈ
The last few days have been short walks and trips to the river only. Check them out still enjoying themselves and staying cool in the video below π My weather app currently says it's 28Β°! That's way too hot to be doing normal walks. If you're still taking your dogs out for long walks, especially in the middle of the day, stop. If your dog walker is still doing normal walks, ask them why. Sadly I've still seen people heading off to the park with ball chuckers, walking along hot pavements, or even out running with their dogs!! Dogs are not good at regulating their activity level, especially when they're always so keen to please us. It's up to us to help them stay cool. TOP TIPS: π° Lots of fresh water β±οΈ Stay in the shade π Avoid walking in the hottest part of the day πββοΈ Avoid encouraging running/chasing balls π₯΅ Watch for signs of heatstroke (excessive panting, lethargy, drooling) π§ If you suspect heat stroke call your vet immediately and avoid trying to cool your dog down too suddenly. Cool them down slowly with wet towels rather than pouring cold water straight onto them Check out these pooches staying cool in the river...
Wind, snow, hail... Pretty sure I nearly lost a hand to frostbite trying to film this π₯Άπ€£ Dogs still didn't seem to mind though...
I have the worst job... Such a tough night at the office ππ Little fluffster, Milo, enjoyed his first training session working on puppy biting and learning to be more calm and focused. . . . #puppy #puppylove #boop #bordercollie #bordercolliepuppy #dogtrainer #dogtraining #forcefreetraining #rewardbasedtraining #dogtrainingrevolution #dogsbeingdogs #happydog #dogstagram #wagglebums

What have your dogs been getting up to during lockdown?
Drop your pictures below! ππ
Something tells me new boy Rubble is going to fit in very well! I think it was love at first sight between him and Lilly π₯° Don't worry, we're right next to the river here so they went straight for a wee swim and cool down after a quick run and the rest of the walk was in the shade of the trees π²π³ Am I the only one wishing it would cool back down again?? π°π‘οΈ
With lots of folks on holiday this week I've had some rare quiet days and whilst I'm glad we're not very quiet often, I do love the opportunity to spend some quality time with the dogs and do some bonding. This morning it was just Sally and I so we went where she wanted, sniffed what she wanted (well I didn't sniff things, that would just be weird...) and did lots of treat scatters. Sally just loves to sniff out the treats, which is why we affectionately call her 'Piglet', she snorts away like she's snuffling out truffles π If you listen closely in the video you'll probably hear it π½ At the end of the video you'll also see me play a wee game of 'drop and run'. This is one of my favourite games for building on recall and your dog's desire to stay close to you when out and about. It's just as the name suggests... Drop a treat and run away and pooch should run back to you for the next treat which reinforces their desire to be near you πΆπ Good girl Sally!
πΆ Guess who's back? Tell a friend! πΆ So happy to have Henry easing back into group walks with us. He's still got a bit of a journey ahead of him whilst his owners work with specialists to get to the bottom of his health concerns. We miss him so much when he's not out with the squad! His owners assure us that he misses us too as he always waits at the door for his usual walks and gets excited at the sight of other white vans! D'awwww ππ₯°
