Wacky Wednesday is here again and I got a doozy for you…
When your plans go a wry do you:
A) go crazy throwing your hands up
B ) take a breathe and reset your intentions and prioritize
C) shrug it off like it ain’t no thang

I’m gonna be honest with you… I do all three in that order 😆. I am a schedule, to-do list, organized person. I crave order so when my plans get jacked unexpectedly I need a moment 🤣 however if I know the day will be jacked I can plan around it and just accept it is what it is!

Whether you are bulking or shredding, portion control will be one of the largest variables in your success. The attached image, which I have posted a few times previously, is something which you can use as a rough guideline for quantifying what you are eating without using measuring cups or a scale.

Among the controllable aspects of fitness are exercise, rest, and nutrition. While it would be hard to pin down which of these most of us get wrong, I'm going to go out on a limb and say nutrition. The main reason for this is that people get comfortable with what they are doing and rely on routine or go by feel.

This is not to say that you can't fall back on your habits. But there has to be some sort of quality control to ensure that what you think you should be doing is actually what you are doing and also that what you think you should be doing is aligned with your fitness goals.

Without getting too deep into the rabbit hole of nutrition plans, if you are not nutritionist with formal training, you should be following either a vetted program such as those within BODi or something specifically designed for you by a nutritionist or a doctor. That said, most nutrition plans will assign a fixed amount to be ingested in each category of food; typically protein, vegetables, fruits, fats, carbs. These amounts are often divvied up into serving sizes or portions.

I could get into a whole discussion about the difference between serving sizes and portions. But, mainly a serving is a fixed amount and a portion is the amount that you're actually taking (the image describes portions in what should actually be labeled servings, LOL). So, for instance if you are allowed 4 servings of carbs per day, you may decide to eat two meals with two servings each, four meals with one serving each or you might eat all four servings in one meal and abstain from that category during any other meals that day.

How do you manage your nutrition? How closely do you pay attention to categories of food? What are your current nutrition/fitness goals? How do you determine what what portions are appropriate for your current goals?

Exercise is adult recess, if you hate what you are doing... switch it up!
YOu should never hate moving your body, you should look forward to it, embrace it, use it and love it!!

Good morning and happy Sunday!
As always Sunday's are for the THREE R's: relaxing, recovering and resetting.
Which means today is a great day to decide what you would like to do next!
As my BODi group just finished LIIFT MORE and for some, the addition of my APRIL'S AINT NO FOOL CHALLENGE, it's time once again to plan on what we are doing next!
Many have decided to do another round of LIIFT MORE and join me in my recovery challenge for May. I think that is an awesome idea!
I will be switching gears completely and doing 21 day fix as well as May's recovery challenge, followed by a hybrid of 10 ROUNDS and CORE DE FORCE. This is partly due to the fact that i start my shredding phase in spring and try to shorten my workouts for summer.
My WEBSITE (www.bodyindependence.com ) and YouTube ARE UP BUT no videos loaded yet so you won't find much of anything just yet. This was a much bigger endeavor than I initially expected (i'm not tech savy 🥺) So it is taking me a bit longer. I don't want to just half-ass it out the gate so i'm learning and setting it up correctly so it may be a bit later than expected BUT it is definitely coming and way past due!

So today is usually my buddy Benn Coren's day to post in my fitness group and he does such an amazing job with the GRATITUDE JAR that i'm not even going to go there.
However, i want to try something different since he's on vacation, that has a lot to do with gratitude and being thankful; it's our MIND SET.
How we wake up, the first thoughts in our head, the first sounds we make, the first actions we take set the tone for how the day will go:
Do you take a moment to breathe and stretch and set your intentions before getting out of bed?
Do you moan and groan grumpy and loathing to move?
Do you spoon, touch, kiss the body/ pillow laying next to you (my dog is a sponge and it thrills me)?
Do you preplan how the day is going to suck and how often you are miserable?
I think you can see where i'm going here. Our first breath, first emotion, first thought is so powerful it can lead us into the light or straight down the darkest hole; be mindful of your thoughts and actions for they are more powerful than you realize!

WEdnesday Wisdom: posting question within, please participate
Of all your lifetimes, do you know which ones you'll look back on with the fondest memories, the most pride, and the widest grin?
The ones where in spite of challenges, no matter how daunting, difficult, or painful, you pressed on.
Nothing truly memorable comes easy, nothing truly earned was given. YOU are teh maker of your destiny. You may not control everything that comes along but you do have the choice of how to react and acknowledge it. YOU have the choice of feeding it or starving it. YOU have the choice of flourishing or diminishing.
HOW YOU VIEW YOUR OBSTACLES BECOMES HOW YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE.
When an obstacles is thrown in your path to glory, how do you react? Do you:
cower? run? hide your head or break down?
acknowledge it? accept it? plan the resolve?
I know it usually depends on the situation, but try to think, when something is not going to plan, or surprises you how do you handle it? If not well, how can you change this behavior? IF you do handle these things well, share some strategy with those you maybe could use the inspiration!
