Starting a new job at this time of year always has its challenges. 6 weeks worth of rain in 2 days in a garden with poor drainage has been interesting. Starting to make some progress now.

Scottish Mountain Rescue Chair, Damon Powell was honoured to be invited to represent current and former members of Mountain Rescue teams across Scotland at the service of Reflection and Thanksgiving at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh today for Her Majesty The Queen. Our deepest condolences go to all in the Royal Family and Royal households.
The Royal family have a long history of supporting Mountain Rescue in Scotland.
Killin Mountain Rescue Team and families are still most grateful for the support they received following the tragic loss of their team leader Harry Lawrie in 1987. Harry was killed in a helicopter crash whilst involved in a mountain rescue. Following the tragedy and, upon request of Her Majesty The Queen, Harry’s Wife Jean was presented with Harry’s posthumous BEM.
Prior to his passing HRH Prince Philip was the patron of Braemar Mountain Rescue for over 50 years. On his death the patronage passed to the HRH Prince of Wales prior to his proclamation as King.
Prince William, who was a Search and Rescue helicopter pilot, is known for his commitment to supporting the mental health of those in the emergency service community which includes all those who volunteers as members of mountain rescue teams in Scotland. Through the Royal Foundation he has brought together leaders from across the UK to address volunteer and staff mental health.
We thank and continue to appreciate the support the Royal Family provide Mountain Rescue in Scotland.
