Mrs. Brokschmidt's Kindergarten

We started our morning with a book then got called down for pictures. We came back, did a brain break, and got so busy that I never picked up my phone again😵‍💫

Today we learned the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset! We listened to a great TED Talk about having a growth mindset then discussed how we can do hard things this year because we learned the power of "yet". When we start to feel frustrated we're not going to say this is hard I can't do it. We're going to say this is hard, I can't do it....YET but I'm going to keep practicing until I can. We had a fun inside recess and did a couple of activities that taught us how powerful our words can be. We learned to think before we speak because it's hard to take back things we might not mean. We even played a game to see how fast we could squeeze toothpaste out of a tube and then had a challenge to get it back in. We realized, like our words, it was easy to get it out but very difficult to put it back in. Everyone did a great job today remembering the rules and routines from yesterday!!

Well it worked they got superpowers. Be sure to ask your child what superpower they got! After lunch students rested while listening to a story, completed an activity about making good choices, learned about their daily folder, wrote about their favorite part of their day, went to art, danced, went to recess, and learned the routines of getting home. It was a great day!!!

And we're off!!! Amazing start to our very first day in Kindergarten! No tears and everyone is happy and having fun!! We've met our new friends, played a get to know you game, learned most of our procedures and routines, had magic beads tell us we're going to have a great school year, played at recess, and read our first book, Kindness is My Superpower! We even drank some superpoweraide and we're waiting to see if anything magical happens!

Annnnnnnnnnnd I'm Back! Back to where it all started. So excited to start year 17 at my favorite school in my favorite grade. 😍 See you at meet your teacher night!!

Some very talented Andover High students interviewed our kids earlier in the quarter and then turned the information they collected into personalized books for each student.. They personally delivered them today and they are ADORABLE!! Loved this project!!!

Show and Teach: Tess taught the class how to make their own fortune tellers! Turns out, everyone is headed to second grade!!🩷🩷

Show and Teach: Parkers show and teach turned into just a show. 🤣 He started off showing the kids how to hit off of a Tee then the next was a toss and hit...... Right on top of the school. Everyone cheered then he improvised and taught the kids how to swing a bat. 😍

Show and Teach: Bella taught the class how to tie their shoe. This is coming in handy for those who haven't mastered that yet!

Show and Teach: Kayson taught the class how to draw his favorite character and included what makes a good background. This class loves to draw and be creative!!

Show and Teach: Kadence showed the students how to make bracelets then taught them how to ask their parents for a bracelet kit!!

Show and Teach: James showed his soccer talent then taught them how to do some cool moves!
