Uncommon Teen
Christian Teen Girls overcoming real challenges while staying true to who God created them to be!
On this week's Ask Me Anything Episode, we are answering the question, "What do you do when someone is telling lies about you at school?"
Having been the subject of many lies myself, especially when I was in middle school and high school, I totally understand how this feels. One of those lies was so bad that if others had believed it, it could have gotten me in some really big trouble.
But even with those lies that were spread about me, it seems like rumors and lies have become even more common today, especially among teens.
You may have heard of this, I’m not on TikTok, but I read an article about this a couple days ago that I wish I could say it surprised me, but it really doesn’t.
There is a new trend on TikTok where TikTokers are “exposing gossipers” by when they overheard others gossiping about someone, they air everything on video, sometimes getting down to the very detail of what these gossipers look like so people know who they are and who it is they are talking about.” So, essentially, they are gossiping about gossipers, making fun of the gossipers, but also hurting a whole lot of people in the process.
It's crazy, but it’s become such common place that we don’t even think about it when people talk to us about others…or we talk to others about someone else. A quick tip about your friends, if they are talking to you behind someone’s back, they are most likely talking about you behind your back.
Okay, so back to the question, “What do I do when someone is spreading lies about me at school?”
When someone tells a lie about us, we instantly want to defend ourselves by telling everyone that it’s not true or even by going to the person spreading the lies and confront them. However, the problem is, when we do this, one, it makes us look guilty and two it causes more challenges. It basically adds fuel to the fire. They want a reaction out of you, and you just gave it to them.
On this week’s episode of the UncommonTEEN Podcasr:
Ashley Al Saliby grew up in Texas. She spent five years in full time ministry for teen girls. She has lived in Lebanon and currently lives in Switzerland with my husband and kids, volunteering with pr***en and teen girls at her local church and just released a brand new book for Christian teens called, "My Refuge."
She wants so much for teen girls around the world to know that Jesus is worthy of all your heart and all your trust.
On today's episode, Ashley talks a little about each of the 4 characters in her book from different countries and different walks of life, and how they all felt imprisoned by the circumstances in their lives.
However, while feeing imprisoned, God was pursuing them with His love…and wants to do the same for you!

This Week on UncommonTEEN TikTok has made modern witchcraft a trend today, but it’s so dangerous. This trend is called WitchTok and just in 2022 alone, there were 11 billion videos with over 47 billion views on this topic. What really made me righteously angry this past week was I found where a company was selling an Ouija...
Christian Teens that are struggling in some area of their life are the ones who are more likely to get caught up in witchcraft.
If this is you and you want to be free of it, there is freedom! There is hope!
1 John 1:9 says, But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (the guilt associated with sin).
If you would like to be free, dm the word “free” and your email address and I will send you steps that you can take to get and stay free from anything that’s holding you back!
Did you know that 3 out of every 10 Christian teens have played with the Ouija board or had their palms read?
And 8 out of 10 have read horoscopes?
And not only that, but 29% of those teens said they didn’t see anything wrong with it.
And only 8 percent said they felt guilty about what they did.
Ladies, these practices open the door for the enemy to work in your life.
And God is against it…not because He wants to steal your fun, but because He hates to see His kids hurting and He knows it will kill you.
Honestly, witchcraft is a knockoff of the real thing…a relationship with Jesus.
It will never live up to the power of God at work inside of you!
God is the only One who knows why you’re here, what your purpose in life is and how you can walk in that purpose.
Witchcraft may use some of the same language that Christianity uses, but it twists it. Just like satan did in the Garden of Eden, twisting the Truth of God’s Word!
TikTok has made modern witchcraft a trend today, but it’s so dangerous.
Witch Tok, what they're calling this trend had 11 billion videos uploaded just last year alone with over 47 billion views.
Panera now has palm reading tech at their locations so you can scan your palm and it will tell you exactly what you need to order.
McDonalds was giving away chances to win tarot card readings with the purchase of their meals.
Disney has shows that glorify being impregnated by satan…or being a daughter of satan himself. The theme of these movies is that the girls feels like she’s alone and doesn’t belong and satan will accept them. This is a lie from the enemy. The devil could care less about anyone.
Target was selling shirts earlier this year…may still be selling them, I don’t know because I don’t shop there, but these shirts said, “satan loves you.” That is a lie. Satan only cares about himself and could care less about anyone else. The reason why, he has always wanted to have more authority than humans and he doesn’t. God made humans to be of a higher rank than angels and that infuriates him.
What really made me righteously angry this past week was I found where a company was selling an Ouija board that is for Christians! On the box is actually says that if you use this board, you can talk “directly to Jesus Himself.”
This isn’t Jesus they are talking to, they are demons.
And a side note, you don’t need anything to go between you and God for you to talk to Him. You can talk directly to Him…and He will speak directly to you.
If you are looking for guidance, ask God! He would love to give you the answer!
And the craziest part is, do you know who they are marketing to the most…young girls and teen girls.

John 14:27 tells us that Jesus has given us His peace.
It’s not a temporary peace like what comes from the world, but a peace that lasts!!
Growing up, I had seen the coloring pages of the Armor of God…usually a little boy wearing them…but never made the connection to them actually being armor that we needed to wear.
I mean, I never saw anyone walking around with a helmet of salvation on their heads or carrying the shield of faith.
So did that mean nobody was wearing the armor of God? We’ll, I thought so.
Until I leaned what it really meant!
The enemy is out to steal, to kill and to destroy.
The only way we can stand up against him and win is by being strong in the Lord and the power of His might! We do that, by putting on the armor of God!
How do we do that though? Check out this week’s uncommonTEEN Podcast.
When you know who it is that God says you are, it doesn’t matter what challenges come up, you know that God has your back and that He’s fighting your battles and has won!
Who does God say you are:
Ecclesiastes 3:11,
Ephesians 1:4,
Isaiah 43:4
Romans 8:16,
Luke 12:24
Psalm 139:14
2 Corinthians 5:17
Deuteronomy 14:2
Ephesians 2:10
1 John 1:9

This world is only getting crazier and crazier.
How do we stand strong during these crazy times? How do we, like Anna asked, keep looking to God in these hard times?
We have to put on the whole armor of God. But what does that actually mean?
I sure don’t carry around a Roman’s armor with me everywhere I go. When I wake up in the morning, I don’t put on my belt and my breastplate, and my sandals, and my helmet, and my shield and my sword. So, how do we put on the armor of God?
Check out this week's episode to learn how to put on God's armor to help you keep looking to God even in the hard times!
God is not our problem! He is our solution!
John 10:10 tells us that the enemy’s number one agenda is to steal, to kill, and to destroy.
Praise God that He has given us His armor to stand strong when the enemy attacks and we can block every attack from him!
Isaiah 54:17 tells us that no weapon that’s been formed against us from the devil shall prosper.
Psalm 91 says we have protection in every area of our life.
We have to put the Word of God in us when we don’t need it so it comes out when we do.
When times are going great, sometimes we can slack on really getting into the Bible…but this is an essential time to get into the Bible.
We need to keep putting the Word of God in and building our faith so when the battles come, we’re already ready, standing strong.
If we are only really seeking God when things get tough…it’s too late.
Think about an army preparing for battle. The commander called in all the troops, but he just has them hanging out…not training…I mean there’s no battle, so why train?
Then all of a sudden the enemy comes…is this army going to be ready? Absolutely not! They weren’t preparing in the good times.
However, if they were training in the good times, when the enemy arises, they are ready, because they have already put in them what they need to fight the enemy on the day that he arises.
The same is true for us!

Deuteronomy 1:30 says, “The Lord your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt.”
Deuteronomy 31 says, “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
How do we stand strong and courageous. How do we not allow ourselves to be afraid and panic. And as Anna asked, "how do we keep looking to God even in the hard times?"

On this week’s episode of the UncommonTEEN Podcast, Anna asks, "How do we keep looking to God even during hard times? Sometimes I struggle with not looking to God as soon as something goes wrong but I want to."
It most likely comes to no surprise to you all that we are living in some very interesting times. The world is getting darker and darker.
Every time you turn on the news, it seems like there’s something else to be concerned about. We are living in a world where it seems like everyone is so confused, they don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong anymore, they are without hope…
and then on top of that we have an enemy who’s number one goal is what John 10:10 tells us…it’s to come into our lives, to steal, to kill and to destroy.
So, with all this craziness, how do we keep looking to God in the hard times?

Well, first of all, let me tell you…there is hope! As Christians, when the world is so confused and have questions…they don’t have answers, but as Christians, we do have answers and we do have hope.
Ladies, this world is going to get darker and darker, but we have hope! Isaiah 60 verses 1-3 says, “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, (this is talking about what we’re seeing today) but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you. All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance.”
While this world is getting darker and darker…God says you as a part of the body of Christ are going to get brighter and brighter! People will be amazed by your brightness, and they will be drawn to you. They want what you have!
How do we stand strong and courageous. How do we not allow ourselves to be afraid and panic. And as Anna asked, "how do we keep looking to God in the hard times?

Ladies, you truly can be confident in your skin, but it starts with growing in your relationship with the Lord by getting in the Bible!
God needs you to get closer to Jesus, so Jesus can get closer to this world that is broken, hurting and without hope!
When you have Jesus in you, you begin to radiate beauty! People will see it. They see that there’s something different about you. They are drawn to the Jesus in you!
For 12 years, Jenelle Thompson fought an ugly battle with not one, but two eating disorders. Her fixation to be super thin nearly cost her her life. Although Jenelle was very successful in both her modeling and acting career, she had extremely low self confidence. She constantly compared herself to others she saw as prettier and more desirable.
Jenelle began the saying the phrase "Confident in my skin" to embrace the uniqueness in which God created His daughters. We have been created in His imagine and He made us exactly how He needed.
Because of the direct impact the media plays on how our young girls perceive themselves, many are ashamed of their beautiful features that God gave them so they try to change to fit into society. I challenge young ladies to find the beauty within herself so she will be able to share her confidence with the world.

When you think about the word discipline, think about it this way:

In this week’s UncommonTEEN Podcast interview, talks about:

Most of us have heard the verse in 2 Timothy 1:7 that says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”
In this culture where sin is very much celebrated and where Christianity is not tolerated, we have to make the choice that we are not going to give in to fear.
We are not going to give in to this culture.
But we are going to stand strong for the Word of God. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power (your prayers are powerful, your voice is powerful, your actions are powerful), of love, and of a sound mind…a mind at peace!
This world is so upside-down.
So, how do we stand against the culture with courage while reaching the people with compassion?
It starts with taking a stand. We have to stand strong on the word of God and not change what we believe or hold back from telling others what we believe because we are afraid of what they will think, what they will say, or what they will do.
We have to take stand for what is right!

There is so much confusion in today’s culture concerning gender identity and same s*x attraction.
This week, we are conquering lie #8, our final lie on our Overcoming the Lies of the Enemy series and that is…Acceptance is Love.
Actually, the exact opposite is true.
While it may seem like when we affirm people’s choices, even though they may not line up with the Word of God, that we are showing them the love of God. That’s the exact opposite.
I have done a lot of research on this topic and have heard from several people who are experts in this field and they say that we have to do the exact opposite.
We have to speak the Truth of God's Word with love.
We have to stand against the culture with courage while still reaching the people with compassion.
I want to clarify, I don’t hate anyone. My heart is to help you all and others see how much God really does love you, how much He has an amazing plan for your life, and how much it breaks His heart to see you hurting and in pain.
I also know that there are a lot of people who are Christians who don’t act like Christians when it comes to how they treat people walking the LGBTQ Lifestyle. They treat them with such hatred and sometimes even violence, and I hate that.
That is not how God would treat anyone. He has such love for them, but also wants them to be free.
God loves you so much! He doesn’t want you bound by your mistakes or guilt any longer! He wants you free in every area of your life!
How you walk in that freedom…fully…is by 1 John 1:9, ask God for forgiveness, receive His forgiveness, then get into the Bible and look up verses talking about what you’re walking through. Start speaking those verses over yourself and choose to believe them.
The more you do, the more freedom you’ll experience!
