Sneaky teaser by the caps showing us three different era colors used by the team in celebration of the upcoming 50th anniversary season. Why are they showing us what is essentially the patch and logo being used in three different colors? 🤔
Are they dropping a hint that we'll see two extra uniform sets for this season? Perhaps one in the original jersey style and one in the 90s style? Otherwise why the need for all three??
hints at this possibility when he quotes the team as saying 'more information on capitals jerseys for the 24-25 season will be announced at a later date'
I'm not a caps fan but even I'm excited for this...

First 'official' look of Fanatics authentic jerseys from the Caps Social accounts. Seems to have been an unintended error by the Caps to leak the first images of the On-Ice jerseys replacing the Adidas jerseys for next season.
Two main points, first is that unfortunately the Caps will continue with the same look that was introduced in 2007 with Reebok. It seems that the design will stick around for as long as Ovechkin is still chasing Gretzky's goal record.
And second, the dimples are indeed gone from the shoulders and replaced with the same fabric used on the rest of the jersey.
As rumored earlier the rest of the jersey design and template remain untouched in the first seasons of this switch to Fanatics.

Probably definitely for the best, but most likely means NHL won't be back in AZ anytime soon

So this was discovered today...
Good friend got hooked up with an old Starter sales rep from the 90s and got his hands on some early-mid 90s Starter catalogs and boy was it a treasure trove of unseen goodies including this 95 era Starter fashion jersey for the that looks like an early version of the legendary canned trumpet third jersey.
Speechless 🤯

Might have to do something about this 🤔

Anaheim Ducks new unis analysis after recent leaks:
1)Earlier leaks confirm the front logo is going back to the old Mighty Ducks mask with crossed sticks that's been updated for the modern colors and some minor tweaking to the design. Solid upgrade from the previous webbed foot main logo, which has now moved to the shoulder as a secondary mark.
2)Initial reactions focused mostly on the shoulder yokes of the road whites, which is a design holdover from the previous uniforms, this time without border piping. And as mentioned before, the shoulders have the webbed foot logo as a patch. But what I noticed more was the dimple-less shoulder fabric that adidas introduced, perhaps reverting back to the Reebok style shoulder using the same fabric on the shoulder as the jersey.
3)Moving onto the collar treatment, there looks to be a single color collar without the seam that breaks up the color on some adidas jerseys, plus there's a glitter gold trim along the inside edge of the collar too. Should look pretty cool in person.
4)The sleeve striping also seems similar to the previous orange third jersey, with a little tweak to the color order. Black bottom cuff on the orange jersey sleeve and orange cuff on the white jersey sleeve.
5)Finally, the number font as seen on the white jersey seems to be a holdover from the previous jerseys, BUT the sleeve number looks MUCH smaller. Is this a fanatics thing similar to the MLB issue they had with small uniform numbers?? We'll know soon enough 😂

Back in 1966 when the LA Kings were gearing up for NHL hockey in tinseltown they had these beauties commissioned for the team to wear their inaugural season. Excuse the rough work but I did this quickly on my phone. But a simple fix like this turns this into a real logo and reminiscent of the whalers heritage all at the same time. It can't be that hard for the pros to do this is it??

Personally I agree it's time to clean up the mess the hurricanes have made for themselves uniform-wise but honestly these concepts feel like a step backwards. All of these look like secondary marks either as shoulder patches or helmet decals.

Very interesting prototype jersey recently popped on on ebay from the St Louis Blues circa 1994.
Elements of the Clown Jersey certainly come through but in a massively subtle way. Not sure how I feel about the lack of hem striping but honestly, this is probably better than what the team decided to go with in 1995

With NHL training camps opening just around the corner there's no better time to review some jersey rumors for the upcoming 2023-24 NHL Season.
Jumping into Adidas's final year of official jersey manufacturer there should be some gems to make this a memorable season. There's lots to cover so let's get right into it...
1) This seasons victim to early internet jersey leaks is the Minnesota Wild who will be wearing their previous Reverse Retro as their next third jersey. Can't wait to see these on the regular for sure.
2) Carolina will also be carrying over a previous specialty jersey as a third, with their anniversary jersey being upgraded to the full time third this season. Honestly probably their best look of the set.
3) The Rangers have been rumored to also carry over a previous Reverse Retro as a full time third. Hopefully this happens but there's still no official word yet.
4) Also rumored to be going retro as a third or heritage tarp is the Tampa Bay Lightning, going back to black again.
5) The LA Kings somehow have been part of a rebrand rumor. This one kind of comes out of nowhere but as we've seen with the SJ Sharks from last season this could very well be a possibility. Mostly whispers at this point but we'll see. If they do rebrand let's hope they use their awesome reverse retros as inspiration.
6) The first outdoor event slated this season is the Heritage Classic up in Edmonton where the Oilers take on the Flames for an outdoor battle of Alberta. Recent logo leaks from the press event this week show what the teams will most likely use on the jerseys. Looking forward to some great concepts on these.
7) The Oilers will be using the Mercurys for inspiration while it's thought the flames will use the Stampede for theirs. This concept doesn't go full on in that direction but it's close.
8) Online leaks featuring caps for the Winter Classic most likely show the logos which will be used for the team jerseys. The Metropolitan inspired S logo seams very promising while the Vegas logo shows some hints of old timey looks too.

Lost 90's Rangers Concepts.
Somehow this story escaped me when it was written over two years ago, but thanks to we've got some more information that's come to light about what could have been back in 1997 when the New York Rangers released what's arguably the NHL best ever third jersey, the Lady Liberty.
In the mid-late 90s the NHL was in the throes of developing cutting edge designs using crazy gradients and sublimation graphics. The Rangers were no exception. During this third jersey design process, design teams presented some off the wall ideas including a starter-like red jersey that's some kind of mash-up between the old NY Americans and the Rangers, a huge sublimated crest logo, which was eventually used as the shoulder patch on the liberty's and some wacky sublimated designs.
Gawk at the raw 90s in your face looks that fortunately only existed on paper.
The article on SB nation is definitely worth a read and has Joe's back story on how he stumbled upon his old VHS tapes while under quarantine during COVID.
It's clear the rangers made the correct choice in the end, but what design would you have liked to see attempted?

We should see the three "new" jerseys being used by Boston this season in just 30 days, Saturday September 16!
Rumor has it the Home and Away jerseys get the centennial logo update with the Anniversary patch added but we should see at least an all new third jersey which is supposed to be used for matchups against original six opponents, much like what happened in the 91-92 season.

The have dropped their new uniforms this morning and as expected they're very close to what they've been wearing and what they've worn through the 80s, 90s and 2000s.
In a way it's a blend of both eras where the sleeve/shoulder trim looks like the previous (60s-70s inspired) set where it's missing the black, but adds the black to the sleeve cuffs and bottom hem as they wore in the 802-07 era. In what's supposed to be a darker shade of orange doesn't really show through here but that could be chalked up to studio lighting and color saturation.
In any rate, a solid set as always from the flyers, what does everyone else think?? Is it an improvement or more of the same??
