Tag Someone That Needs to Read This! | RP• .madison Truth Bomb 💣 My Father was the person who doubted me the most when I told him I wanted to be a hair stylist 14 years ago. He told me “The last thing the world needs is another f*cking hair stylist.” Big ouch, right?

In the last few years, this man has literally shed tears and begged me for forgiveness for saying those things to me all those years ago. I wanted to make this post because I’m sure there are other young stylists out there who are receiving the same type of doubt from family or other loved ones. I’m gonna tell you that you should absolutely make them eat their words. And you should also absolutely be kind and gentle when they finally realize how wrong they were.

My dad has always been my hero. I joke all the time that him doubting me was one of the ultimate driving forces in my success. I don’t take kindly to people telling me I won’t amount to anything, especially my own father. Two summers ago he cried on the phone to me and told me, “You told me you would be here one day and I didn’t believe you, and Madison… I am so so sorry 😢😢😭 I hope you can forgive me.”

It was kind of funny because once he finally said those words to me I was like “… Well s**t. He finally said it. Now what?” 😂 Well now you go back to doing it for the reasons you did in the first place. For the guests of your salon. The patrons of your business. Do it for yourself, to prove that you really CAN be whatever you want when you grow up. Do it because the urge to CREATE is in your BLOOD. Do it because you can’t get enough of it. Do it for the gram, hell if I care. But just get out there and actually DO IT because no one will ever believe in you as much as you do until you prove them otherwise. Even your old man.

I waited a long time for these words and maybe if I was a weaker willed person, he might have actually convinced me that this wasn’t exactly where I needed to be. So listen to your gut and trust yourself always because you know you best and you know your power. Manifest big amazing things for yourself. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you won’t be successful. That s**ts for the birds.
