Looking for a fun and engaging way for students to practice math skills at home?

I never assigned traditional homework in the classroom, but I always have practice options that can be used at home for those who want/need reinforcement. My favorite was to send home a deck of cards to be kept and used for all math “homework”

I created games that could reinforce all standards - operations, fluency, time, geometry, data - with a deck of cards. We play these as partner games in the classroom so students can go home and teach them to family members using their own deck of cards.

I have these available for grades 1, 2, and 3. L I N K S in my stories to each level!

Still the best team gifts! If you live somewhere HOT, have a class spray bottle on hand to take to recess with you. Students can come up and mist themselves at any point if they’re feeling the heat! ☀️ Teachers, too 😉

Once in line, at the end of recess, students could get a mist also. Trust me, they did not want to miss that last mist so they would be in line! Of course, you can have a signal students can hold up if they’d rather not be misted.

Things to know about this bundle:
1. It involves students in giving back to the community in fun, engaging ways
2. It can be used with an entire school - or just grade levels or classes
3. It includes a range of activities. I've tried to keep a good ratio of "donation" vs "non-donation" activities
4. You can pick and choose which activities to use each year. While I've created activities for each month, you don't have to do them all! Do one per month, one every other month, or just one per quarter. Change them up from year to year!

The newest addition is called Art From the Heart and it has students create art that they will auction off to raise money for a special project/cause. Schools are constantly raising money for great causes, but why not make it fun? Just asking parents to send in donations is no fun at all. Instead, have your children create art for a silent auction. Students will see value in their work, parents will get original, unique art and the cause will earn money! It's a win for everyone!
