Finally in the last stages on the chair.
A bit of work in progress on some garden furniture.
With the final coat of finish on the drawer this bedside table is done. White oak and walnut, with dovetail joints, tendon joints and walnut accent dowels. Love the process of making this.
So I ran into a problem when fitting up the drawer, the right side stuck out just over 2mm compared to the right. So after a bit of head scratching I put the drawer face down on a flat surface propped up the left hand side of the drawer just over 2mm then clamped two bits of wood flat to the surface. This enabled me to put the whole thing on the planer.
After planing until the drawer face was parallel with the wood clamped to the sides the fit was perfectly flush.
I know it looks a little sketchy but it’s the best I could come up with. I hope this solution helps someone one day.
A bit of close up action.
Half blind dovetail joints for this chunky walnut drawer front. A bit more fitting to get it sitting more flush but I’m happy so far.
Changed my mind on the legs of this bedside table, decided to overlap the stretchers. I will get this finished one day I promise.
Totally forgot to share a picture of this reception desk I made for my sisters salon.
Testing out some finishes for a project. This is epoxy resin covered burnt wood. I really like the effect it has created.
Dry assembly of the first of two bedside tables I’m making. Hand cut dovetails on the top with mortise and tenon joints for the legs. I’m happy so for with the proportions, but I’m going to shape the legs a bit though. It’s all solid white oak at the moment but it will eventually have some walnut contrasting bits to it.
Had cutting dovetails, slow but satisfying.
Chiseling out some mortises today. Loving my Stanley Sweetheart chisels.
White oak dovetail practice joint, not too bad for a first attempt at hand cut dovetail joints.
I love working with white oak, making some legs for some bedside tables. Had to make a two stage tapering jig for the table saw. Love going from raw sawn stock to fresh planned timber.
Nice little project making a marking knife, using tool steel for the blade and iron wood for the handle scales. Really enjoyed grinding in the profile and bevels now just got to fit the handle scales temporarily with the stainless steel pins to get the shape roughed in.
What do you think so far.?
I think I might end up making a limited run of these once this one is done and put them up for sale.
Another beech chopping board done.
Having snapped plenty of drill bits in my time and slightly bent some, never have I had one bend this far. Only drilling some soft wood. Sorry Dewalt please try harder.
How insanely cute do these look together 💕
Matching t-shirts and Easter bags are a perfect alternative to chocolate (or you could just fill the bags with Easter treats 🍫)
Available in 4 colours 💗💙💚🧡
Cyclone dust collector impeller looks beefy enough to handle the 2hp the motor will throw at it. Not to self ‘do not put my hand in there’
Love laying out all the parts before assembly.
Unboxing is so very satisfying, having net tools (toys) is more satisfying 😁
Finally after waiting over two months some very important workshop equipment has arrived, will hopefully make the workshop a nicer and safer place to work.
Parts organised and checked before assembly.
Always exciting when new tools arrive, this ones a big one. Let the fun unwrapping and assembling begin.
