NOW kids
NowKids exists to "Love Families to LifeChange." NowKids is a ministry of NowChurch in Baltimore, Ohio
We have been having so much fun at NOW Kids. We learn every week about the love of Jesus and being bold in sharing it!
This morning we talked about being weird enough to wait. And how hard that is sometimes. We talked about synonyms to weird and came up with embarrassed lol.
Soooo, we partnered up in a DO NOT laugh game, which took f o r e v e r!
Then we made animals out of ourselves on the floor - talk about embarrassing!
We also watched a video about never being ashamed/embarrassed to share the good news of Jesus!
Our verse was Roman's 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes!"
Our activity was a coloring page that challenged us, as followers of Jesus, what we would do in different scenarios!
Next week Mark Petty will be teaching on "what a weird way to save the weird"?
Last Sunday we talked about how weird is better. Kiddos were told they could wear weird outfits ...and they sure did! We even made some pretty weird talking donkeys :) We talked Balaam and how he should've listened to God the 1st time! And just because we are young, doesn't mean we can't be a good example even to the adults around us!
Our verse was 1 Timothy 4:12 "Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."
Join us this Sunday!
On Sunday August 7th, we talked about how being a Christian may be weird, but God isn’t concerned with “normal”. Once Jesus is in our hearts, we are turned upside down! (Which is weird)
We tried to shoot some hoops and create art using upside down goggles. We made “bees” and sent home color pages.
Our verses were Acts 17:6 "These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also” and Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world,[a] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” . They had a wonderful time.
Tomorrow we will be continuing and learning that “weird is better”! Who knows, maybe we'll talk about talking donkeys?😁
Today we talked about being weird (standing out/turn things upside down) in a God way. Examples given were praying before lunch, reading Bible in study hall, volunteering when no one else wants to. When we turn things upside down, God sees us better 😁 It is always ok to be weird in a God kinda way.
We all got to try making houses and shooting hoops with our "upside down" goggles.
Bible versus were Acts 17:6 "these men have turned the world upside down and have come here also." And Romans 12:2 which says in part "do not be conformeded to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind .."
We made a "bee weird" craft! They had a great time!
With a special guest with us, on Sunday, our lesson was about no matter how "rocky" life gets, God is always at work! James 5:17 "But Jesus replied. My father is always working, and so am I."
We talked about Lazarus and Jesus. We learned when we pray to thank God first, just like Jesus did. We learned also that Jesus wept, just like we do, when someone goes to Heaven and that it's ok. Sometimes, we might be upset or afraid about something that happens, but Jesus has a plan and we should trust Him always.
We made our own version of Lazarus and the "rock"! We decoded a paper about the story and had a page to color with our verse.
We had a great time!
On Sunday we continued our learning about freedom from anxiety/worry. We learned from the “Wise Crackers” that as we go through our day, it is better to pray through everything and lean on God, than it is to try it alone.
We talked about Faith over Fear and we made crosses by folding our papers and only making one cut and placing them over fear! We learned about 5 4 3 2 1 and we talked about God’s Peace!
We had the freedom to have snack time early 😊 We didn’t have enough time to paint our worry rocks, so those went home as homework.
The kids had a great time!
Today NOW Kids learned how to be free from worry/anxiety.
We listened to Peace like a river and then wrote down our prayers/praise reports.
We worked with bubbles this morning. We practiced proper breathing (inhale through our nose, out through our lips slowly) calming ourselves and blowing bubbles at the same time. The bubbles represented our worries/anxieties. Our bible verse 1 Peter 5:7 (Putting all your troubles on Him, for he takes care of you.) Once we give them to Jesus, we shouldn’t pick them back up. They were asked to try 😊
We then went to the mystery box. The children were asked to guess what was in it and then those that wanted volunteered to put their hand in the top (sight unseen) Our NOW Kids were bold and courageous as almost everyone took a turn!
We then made worry bottles (a couple renamed them calming bottles. We took water bottles, poured out just a little bit of the water, glitter glue and some beads and extra glitter and put it inside. Then we closed them up and secured all the tops securely. They were told to pray/breathe as the turn them upside down.
Finally we talked about Mathew 6:26 “See the birds of heaven; they do not put seeds in the earth, they do not get in grain, or put it in store-houses; and your Father in heaven gives them food. Are you not of much more value than they?” . We made birds out of paper plates in a nest with their bible verse.
Finally a quick snack. We were so busy we didn’t have time to worry 😊

Today our bible verse was James 1:19 “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters! Let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.” We talked about how anger happens, but it is how we deal with it which is important and how God can help us with that. We made “angry clothes aka Hulk suits with angry faces and ran a relay and asked God to help us as we got rid of that anger! We played a twist on charades in that our teacher whispered an emotion to us and we had to sing the first line of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in that kind of voice. This proved to be effective in their understanding AND hilarious!
We also took balloons and for each thing we thought of that made us angry, we blew one breath in it. Then we held them and talked about if we just let go (of our anger) sometimes it may get on everyone else flying around the room. If we let it out properly, with God’s help, this won’t happen. We also did an activity placing situations where they should go under Hulk Smash or the Happy Hulk. We colored a Hulk Smash color page with our verse on it.
We had a smashing good time 😊
Today NOW Kids had a “Freedom Party”. Our memory verse was John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!”
We watched a video on prayer and the importance of our freedom to pray and that we can do this anytime we want or need to. We talked about how we don’t need big words to pray and that we aren’t all robots. Our words can be long or short! We may just see exactly how it would be if a robot prayed next week!
We talked about how once the Son is in our heart, He sets us free and illustrated that 😊 We made a craft about how God always hears our prayers! We ended with some red/white/blue snacks and popsicles and with some games to work off some of that energy before leaving!
They had a wonderful time! Have a wonderful 4th of July!
*videos will be in the comments :)
Today we listened to It Is Well With My Soul and Joyful!
We read about the story of the friends who lowered the paralyzed man through the roof and down to Jesus and that friends matter. We made a craft that illustrated the story.
We also talked about Jesus can also heal a broken heart (coloring page of a broken heart and Jesus bandaids.) We also demonstrated taking our "person aka a balloon on a pillow case" with one person on each corner to see how teamwork/friendship can help our friends get to Jesus.
Bible verses were Psalm 34:4 "I prayed to the Lord and He answered all my fears." And Psalm 34:18 "the Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who areccrushed in spirit."
We ended with "comfort snacks" (their individual favorites)
We hope to see you next week. Come join us!
This morning, we talked about heaven and some of the things that we thought would be there, and wouldn't! We listened to I'll Fly Away!
We also learned that sharing about heaven, and it's treasures, was better than keeping it to ourselves! We had a demonstration of how sharing is better when we are filled with the Holy Spirit!
Our memory verse is John 20:21 "peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you."
Have a great week everyone!
Last Sunday, we listened to Amazing Grace and talked about how amazing God's Grace truly is!
We threw "snowballs" (newspaper) which represented sin. We crumpled them up and got our hands dirty and tried to throw them away. We couldn't of course but with God's Grace (wipes) our hands were clean!
We also played bingo and did a demonstration of how God's grace can help keep you safe from temptation. We watched a short video about the grace of a father.
The kids had a great time. We'd love to have you! Mark Petty will be taking over this Sunday and will be talking about What a Friend We Have in Jesus!

On Sunday, May 29th, we talked about making time and how to get Closer to God by praying. We made crafts that could be taken home and put somewhere that reminds us to pray every day. Even our snacks were made into a clock before eating!
We also played a game that illustrated how the further we are from God, the less likely we are to have a relationship with God. BUT, the closer we are, by praying and other things, the easier and stronger that relationship becomes. The children paired up and stood 10 feet apart and threw popcorn and of course they fell short! But when they prayed and moved more like 3 feet apart, they were able to hit the mark. They enjoyed this maybe just a little too much! 😁
The bible verse for Sunday was “Mark 1: 35 "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. “ The children will be able to earn bibles by doing their “disciple work” each week for the next month! I think everyone had a great time!
I hope to see you all next Sunday!
Today we focused on Matthew 5:38-44 which says, "...But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you..."
The kids discussed situations that they felt were unfair and how to handle them. After the bible lesson, the kids had a snack, played games, and had lots of fun.
Be sure to join us next Sunday at 10am.
Today we talked about Daniel in the Lion's Den. The kids learned about trusting God and having faith like Daniel, and letting God be in control instead of trying to do everything ourselves. Afterwards, the kids danced and played with musical instruments, created yarn pals, and made a falling wall.
"...Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God just as he had done before." - Daniel 6:10
Hello all. The kids have been busy learning about God's unwavering love for us, crafting, and playing Bible trivia and other fun games. This month our focus is on 1 Corinthians 9:25. We've been talking about how to train for God and what that looks like (it ties in with the Winter Olympics).
Don't miss this Sunday...it's Cookies and Hearts Day in NOW Kids 🙂
Join us for the 9:30am or 11:30am service.
We are so grateful for all of you! Children are a gift and we are honored that you allow us to share the gospel with them through lessons, games, crafts, and worship. Here's a glimpse of what we've been up to this month, with a focus on the birth of Jesus!
Luke 1:26-38
Luke 2:8-20
Matthew 2:1-12
Luke 2:21-40
Wow! This year is going so fast. Hard to believe we're in Thanksgiving week. Over the last few weeks, through lessons from the Books of Matthew, and Jeremiah, NOW Kids have been learning about FAITH and GRATITUDE.
We hope you will join us this Sunday at either the 9:30am or 11:30am service. Bring a friend. We'll see you soon.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”- John 15:5
Last Sunday’s NOW Kids pumpkin painting event was a success. Paint, pumpkins, games, and a lesson.
Join us tomorrow at 9:30am or 11:39am service as we learn about hidden treasures.
Hey NOW Kids! Over the last few weeks, we have discussed Bible Heroes who had secret missions. So far, we've talked about Caleb & Joshua, Rahab & the Spies, and Gideon. Each story is about our faithfulness and obedience to God. Next week, we will wrap up our series as we learn about Esther. We will also have costume day, so don't forget to wear your kid appropriate Bible Hero or Super Hero costumes to church. See you next Sunday at 9:30am or 11:30am.
Instead of Elf on a Shelf, move Mary and Joseph thru your house on their “journey to Bethlehem” and end up at the Nativity scene Christmas Eve.
This past Sunday the kids continued discussions about faith and the power of prayer. They worked on memorizing The Lord's Prayer - Matthew 6:9-15.
NOW Kids CHALLENGE - memorize the prayer and do your best to recite it for us in two weeks to win a special prize.
The kids also learned about Jonah and the Whale- Jonah 2:9. They were full of questions, so we worked on reading scripture in our Bibles and trying to find answers to their questions.
We look forward to seeing you this Sunday at our 9:30am or 11:30am service.
Ephesians 6:11 -Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
The kids have been busy these last few weeks, learning about the Armor of God, and that through Jesus, God has given us everything we need. The kids even enjoyed some fun snacks.
We hope to see this week at either our 9:30am or 11:30am service.
