The Norris Lions have donated $1,200 to the Maui Disaster Relief Fund administered by the Hawaii Lions Foundation. The funds will be used by local Lions Clubs on the island to address immediate relief efforts. The fires that erupted on Maui on August 8th have destroyed most of the city of Lahaina, damaging over 2,200 buildings– most of them residential homes. To date, over 115 people have been killed and many more are still unaccounted for. The Maui blaze is the deadliest U.S. fire since the 1918 Cloquet Fire in Minnesota, which claimed 453 lives. In East Tennessee, we are no strangers to the impacts of these types of disasters.

"A memorial service was held in Medina to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
The Medina Lions Club hosted their annual Memorial Day Service on Monday at the Medina Civic Center.
The ceremony has been taking place in the city for over 30 years. District Attorney Fredrick Agee spoke at the ceremony.
He currently holds the rank of major in the US Army reserve and has completed four overseas military tours, including two to Kuwait, South Korea, and Guantanamo Bay.
The Lions Club says he is a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and has earned many decorations over his 18-year military career.
Medina Lions Club Chaplin, Kenneth Perry said it’s important to remember that Memorial Day is not the start of summer or meant to be just a fun family holiday.
“Today is not a day of celebration, but is a day of remembrance, and that’s what we’d like to do it as. We hope every family remembers that they are in our thoughts and in our prayers, and that also, we care about them. Not only today, but throughout the rest of the year,” Perry said.
Perry went on to say he would like to thank the families that gave family members the opportunity to serve and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice."

We believe that one of the most important things you can do as a Lion is support Lions Clubs International Foundation.
Today, we would like to recognize Tennessee's top four leading donors to LCIF.
Thank you for your support of our foundation!
We hope you will remember Tennessee Lions Charities Inc. and KidSight Outreach today. Our KidSight Outreach vision screening program serves thousands of children each year thanks to the continued support of the Lions Clubs of Tennessee.
If every Lion in Tennessee donated $40 a year, KidSight Outreach's operating expenses would be fully funded by the Lions of Tennessee. With this level of support, the funds we raise from grants and Lindsey-Jennings Fellowships would expand the program and broaden our service for the children of Tennessee.
