Second day of record breaking heat for the Twin Cities, with the hottest temperatures of the summer yesterday and today.
Twin Cities now has a new record high of 98° for August 22nd. Previous record high was 97° (1898, 1971).
Heat Warnings in place for central and southern MN into western WI now through Wednesday evening. This is a dangerous heat for everyone and pets. Plan on staying indoors.
Heat Warning for the Twin Cities and all counties in purple Tuesday (by late morning) through Wednesday evening. Temperatures will be in the upper-90s for the metro, but it'll feel near 103°-108°. Keep pets indoors most of the time over the next couple days.

Severe thunderstorms possible this evening across most of MN, especially the eastern half of Minnesota into western Wisconsin, with a cold front tracking eastward. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. An isolated tornado is possible (mainly before 10 PM).
Severe Thunderstorm Warnings with half dollar sized hail in Rice County and Faribault counties. Storms are continue to develop and strength across the SE metro and south of the Twin Cites.
Severe Thunderstorms Warning including Hennepin County, southern Wright, southern Anoka, northeastern McLeod, central Washington, Ramsey, Carver and west central St. Croix counties until 6PM. Golf ball sized hail and 60 mph wind gusts are the main threats.

Severe thunderstorms are entering west-central Minnesota this evening, tracking eastward into the overnight hours. Isolated tornadoes are possible across west-central MN. Damaging winds are the main threat for the Twin Cities, mainly after midnight and before 6 AM. KSTP-TV

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Dakota, southern Washington, and western Pierce county through 5:30 pm. Gusts to 60 mph and large hail are main threats.
Severe storms are possible tonight for the Twin Cities mainly before 10 PM. Severe threat lasts a little longer across far southern/ southeastern Minnesota tonight.
Now Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 9:15 PM for slow moving cell barely tracking eastward in west-central Meeker County.
Some large hail possible in west-central Meeker County to the west of Litchfield. Great idea to stay off the roads, and pull the car into the garage for locations nearby.
Storms that produced numerous Flash Flood Warnings (in red) as well as previous gusty winds and large hail, will continue to build southward, as well as on the western edge of the line of storms that extends into SW MN.
Flash Flood Warning for central Polk County through 12:15 AM, where 1" to 3" have already fallen, and additional couple inches of rain possible.
Flash Flood Warnings are highlighted in dark red. The warning for southern Pine and southern Burnett into Washburn county until 11:45 PM. Warning for Barron and Rusk countiesin place through 12:45 PM. Flash flooding is occurring or is imminent. Don't drive in flooded roads.
Flash Flood Watch in place for the Twin Cities through 4 AM. Slow moving storms in addition to a lot of moisture in the atmosphere will allow for the potential for storms to bring 3" to 5" of rainfall for some. This much rain, this quickly would lead to some flash flooding.
Two Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in the north metro. The northern warning is in place through 7:45 PM for northern Anoka, southern Chisago and southern Isanti, with gusts to 60 mph, hail 1.5". The southern cell is warned through 8PM, 60 mph gusts, hail 1.25" possible.
Flash Flood Warning in northern Kanabec County and central Pine County thorugh 10:30 PM. Report of 4.5" near Hinkley, with rainfall rates still around 1-2" and hour. Another 1-3" of rainfall in the warned areas is certainly possible.
Storms continue to develop and strengthen as we continue into this evening. New Severe Thunderstorm Warning through 5:30 PM for Brown and Redwood counties, with storm tracking east at 30 mph southeast of Redwood Falls
Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Polk into Dunn County through 6 PM. Tennis ball size hail, winds to 70 mph possible. Take shelter if in this storm's path, there is some potential for this cell to produce a tornado as well.
Severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds, and even a few tornadoes are possible late this afternoon into tonight. Be aware that we have the risk for severe weather in the Twin Cities too.
Dangerous heat in place tomorrow, with heat index values up to 100° to 105°. Tomorrow isn't a day to spend a lot of time outdoors unfortunately. Stay safe and hydrated!
