The Old Boatshed
Real Ales, craft beers, lagers, boxed ciders, wines and spirits. Set in the old lifeboat station built in 1881 which retains some original features.
The unusual and ever-changing tasty drinks are the focus - not loud music, TV and gaming machines. We cater for disabled people but please leave the large electric vehicles outside if possible as we're limited for space. We have a comfortable raised outside seating area to the front. Conversation and good company to socialise amongst is our aim or if you feel like having quiet time alone, this too
This year all proceeds from our annual raffle will go to the RNLI and The Blue Light Festival. Tickets are £1 each and all prizes will be drawn on Christmas Eve. Thanks very much
A quick reminder - especially to the people we haven't seen - we will be closed on Thursday 23rd November. Open on Friday at 2pm as normal.
Remember we have Graham performing from 3. It’s always an enjoyable live music afternoon.
Just a reminder that as with other businesses in town we will only be able to take cash payments this weekend - no phone signal, no card machine.
Thanks very much
Apologies but we have had to close early tonight. We left our front door open when it got dark and we were invaded by a swarm of flies. We didn’t think it was right to stay open but once we’ve had a clean up we’ll be open as normal at 1pm tomorrow. Sorry again if you were looking forward to a drink with us this evening.
On Sunday 15th October our very own Graham will be performing from 3pm in the Old Boatshed. We look forward to seeing you all there.
We will be closed next weekend - Thursday 21st until Sunday 24th September due to holidays. We will be open as normal at 3pm on Thursday 28th September. Look forward to seeing you all then.
Reminder that as usual we are open Bank Holiday Monday - 1pm until 9.30pm. See you all over the weekend
We will be opening at 2pm on Sunday (instead of 1pm) so we can all watch the football. Apologies to those people who aren't football fans - but sorry we are and we will be watching at home.
Come on England 🏴🏴🏴🏴
To all those people we haven't seen over the weekend we are CLOSED on Thursday 6th July. Open as usual after that.
Thanks a lot and sorry for any inconvenience
Most of you know we had a collection box on the bar supporting the Withernsea Pier. Once it was announced that the pier was to be no more we decided to donate the money instead to Withernsea RNLI as we already collect for this well deserving charity. Once counted we found we had a total of £105.78 - so thank you very much and we hope you approve of us giving the money to the RNLI. A letter from Darren Hickey - the new Operations Manager in Withernsea is attached.
We also had out RNLI 'boat' emptied and counted this week and this has came to an impressive £113.96. Again thank you so much for your generosity. The receipt is attached.
Thank you to all.
Reminder we have Graham playing at 3pm this afternoon. Come into the cool for a couple of hours and listen to some great music. Hope to see you all later
On Sunday 25th June our very own Graham will be performing from 3pm in the Old Boatshed. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Reminder that Connor Penson is playing on Sunday from 3pm. See you all there
On Sunday 21st May we will have the brilliant Connor Penson playing an acoustic set from 3pm. Be warned though - if you want a seat be early!!!
We may be a little late opening tomorrow. Lyndon has physio and we should be back to open at 3 - but it could be 3.15-3.30. Thanks for your understanding
As most of you know Lyndon has been in hospital for a knee replacement operation. Everything is going well and he is starting to get around ok - but it is a long process. As a result we will not be able to open on Bank Holiday Monday (1st May) but we will be open on Coronation Monday (8th May).
The rest of our opening times remain as normal - see you all Thursday at 3pm.
Remember that we’re open from 1pm today. See you all soon
As most of you know Lyndon is having a 'new'knee' on the 20th April, because of this we will closed the weekend before - Thursday 13th April until Sunday 16th April. Apologies if this causes any issues. Open as usual on Thursday 20th April at 3pm.
Gentle reminder that we will be open at 1pm on Easter Monday. It'll be Sunday opening times so we'll be closing at 9.30pm.
Look forward to seeing everyone over the long Bank Holiday weekend
Very big thank to Sharon Garner who entertained us all yesterday afternoon and a big thank you to everyone who turned up to listen. We think it was a very successful afternoon
Reminder, we have our very own local singer/songwriter Sharon Garner playing in the Shed on Sunday. Starting at 3.30, don't be late or you'll be standing.
See you all then
Following the success of our Sunday live music event with Dawn Marie we'd like to announce that Sharon Garner will be performing in The Old Boatshed on Sunday 2nd April from 3.30. Hope to see you all there.
A big thank you to Dawn Marie (and sidekick Ruby) who entertained us all last Sunday afternoon. Hopefully this is the start of regular live music events
Remember we have the amazing Dawn Marie live tomorrow from 5pm
We’re all looking forward to this - our first live music in a very long time
We’ve had our RNLI collection boat emptied and we’d like to thank all of our lovely generous customers for their contributions - please keep donating.
We’ve had a sponsor form delivered to the Boatshed by accident, in the name of Kim Wallis. If this is you, come and collect it anytime we are open. Thank you
Pete - here's the beer we promised you for this weekend. You know who you are 😉!
Merry Christmas everyone, we hope you all had a brilliant day yesterday - we did.
Here are the winning raffle ticket numbers - just come to the bar to collect your vouchers. I think Paul Blinkhorn should go and buy a raffle ticket!!!
In total you lovely people raised £233 for the RNLI - thank you very much
We're open from 1pm for all your Boxing Day get togethers - see you later.
Please see below our 2022 Christmas opening times.

We hope to see as many of you as possible over the festive period.
A quick reminder that we won’t be open until 3 O’Clock today. See you all later
For those people we haven't managed to speak too, there are a couple of things to mention about the next couple of weeks.
First - we will be closed this Sunday (27th November) - apologies if this causes any problems, but we are open Thursday to Saturday as normal.
Secondly - we will be opening slightly later on Saturday 3rd December - 3pm instead 1pm - everything else is as normal.
Finally on Thursday 1st December we will be launching our 2022 Christmas Raffle - this year all proceeds will be going to the RNLI
Thanks very much for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you all soon
Somebody has finally cottoned on to what our customers have known for a long time - we're in the 2023 Good Beer Guide.

Apologies to everyone but we will be closed the rest of the weekend due to a family bereavement. We will be open again on Thursday. Thanks very much for your understanding.

Our Story
Set in the old lifeboat station, on Seaside Road and built in 1881, the Old Boatshed retains some original features. It was lovingly restored by previous owners Rick and Cheryl and is a microbar providing real ale, craft beers and lagers, ciders, wines and spirits for the more discerning drinker. Runner up of the independent national Best Bar None award 2016 after only several months of being open. Nominated in top three of the East Riding Chairmans award 2017 and acredited to be entered in the all important CAMRA Best Beer Guide. The unusual and ever-changing tasty drinks are the focus - not loud music, TV and gaming machines. In 2018, Rick and Cheryl decided they wanted to spend more time together and sold the Old Boatshed to Lyndon, Pauline and Mark, regular customers since the bar opened. In their own words nothing will change - ‘Why mend something that isn’t broken’
The ‘Shed’ caters for disabled people but please leave the large electric vehicles outside if possible as there is limited space inside. There is a comfortable raised outside seating area to the front, where you can watch the day go by with a beer in your hand
Conversation and good company to socialise with is our aim or if you feel like having quiet time alone, this too may be where you want to be.
A selection of Bean to Cup coffees are available; also Hot Chocolate and many varieties of tea.
Children, if well behaved, are welcome up until a certain time - provided they're with a responsible adult (18 years or over) at all times. They are not allowed at the bar itself.
We have board games, cards and books available - but feel free to bring your own.
We are dog friendly, so long as the dogs are well behaved, not allowed on the seats and not just had a swim in the sea. Larger dogs are to be kept under the table. The owners bear full responsibility for their pets.
We have a strict Challenge under 24 age policy - (see general info. section below for more details)
