This lovely girl is so sweet and cuddly. She was being mobbed by some of the bigger dogs at the shelter, before she was moved to the garden to live with the other setters.

Kitty is just four months old, and has arrived at her foster home near Frankfurt in Germany. She is described as a cool cat😎 not afraid of anything, including the mean old vacuum cleaner! Nothing seems to phase her, she just goes with the flow. Kitty is looking for an active family, preferably with experience of the breed. She’s a very smart girl, and has the ability to learn everything at her young age. She’s already learned basic commands at her foster home!

A very touching happily ever after……

Do you all remember a beautiful boy called Spencer? He was a grandpa, found completely emaciated in Georgia. Why was he found wandering around aimlessly? No one knows….. he was probably never kept as a pet in the home, but probably outside in a small cage. 💔 Never fed properly, never had a soft bed, never felt love.

Well, never say, never! Grandpa Spencer is living his dream come true. He flew to Germany just a couple of short weeks ago. Thank you to the wonderful Aleksandra for welcoming him home. Spencer now enjoys all the finer things in life. Now and elderly boy, his last chapter will be filled with all the things he never got to experience. ❤️

Spencer needed help. Not many people will adopt a dog knowing they only have a short time to spend with them. But this is when animal welfare takes on a special role. Never forget the elderly, disabled, and the sick. They need our help the most, and there will always be very special people out there, willing to offer them the love they never felt. ALWAYS try for those dogs and never give up. Spencer, we love you!!! 💛

Princess Thea has arrived 🥳

Our sweet and beautiful Thea overcame such difficulties right before traveling to the UK. Unfortunately, just days before she was originally scheduled to travel, she had an accident in Greece and was hit by a car and her leg was broken in two places 😞 

At first, we were unsure what her recovery time would look like, but she was able to go to a specialist in Athens, where they immediately operated 🙏 her wonderful family were so supportive during the difficult time, and said “ we’re here for her whenever she is ready”. Well, she is now home! 😍

This beautiful girl enjoys every day with her very special family. She settled right in, and is always ready for the next adventure. Thank you, Martyn for opening your home and waiting for your beautiful girl to join your family. Thea also gets to regularly visit her grandma, who’s had setters her entire life. 

Off you go, Thea! Enjoy the beautiful beaches and your soft sofa. We love you. 🧡

A happy ending for Elwyn, now Alffie 🥰

This lovely setter lab cross was rescued from a terrible public shelter in Turkey. He was brought to the refuge in Bursa where he waited for his special day. Well, that day came 🥳 Alffie now lives in beautiful Eastbourne with his wonderful family who welcomed him home with open arms and open hearts.

When I first met Alffie in Turkey, I felt he had lost all hope. Shy and shutdown, Alffie had given up. In that moment, a friend at the refuge said “this is when rescue takes on a special meaning”. 🧡

Well, look at him now! 🥰 We wish you many years of love and happiness together. Thank you to Linda for giving this very special boy a very special place with your family.

URGENT HOME/FOSTER NEEDED FOR KERRI

Dear Setter lovers,
Due to very difficult personal circumstances, little Kerri needs a new home. She’s an absolute sweetheart through and through. A typical setter, very cuddly, gentle and of course loves everyone she meets. Like all setters, outside she wants to run run run!

Kerri is 5 years old, spayed, healthy and currently in the Eastbourne area. Please send a message if you can help.

Poor Hamilton (Guti) at 11 years old, found himself dumped in a horrible pound. Left to rot away and forgotten by his owner, this poor boy was spotted by a local rescuer who contacted Settusfree to help. This lovely, gentle boy now deserves his retirement basket and a forever home.

Dear Setter help community,

Many of you may remember the heartbreaking story of Piri, the pointer who waited for months at the same place where she was abandoned. She survived distemper, overcame all the odds, and flew to Germany one week ago to start her happily ever after. Unfortunately, right after arriving it became clear she needed to be seen by a vet as she wasn’t using her back right leg at all. Piri needs to have a femoral head ostectomy and the cost of her surgery and physio aftercare is 2000€.

Every little bit helps, even a very small amount and will be sent directly towards for veterinary expenses. 🙏

Let’s kick off the week with some VERY exciting news 🥳 we have several updates of happily ever after’s that have arrived over the last week. It’s been such a joyful time.

Let’s start with Iris. This lovely lady came over from Thasos Greece and had a short stay over at her lovely foster auntie Rachel’s place. Thank you so much for putting her up so she didn’t miss the transport ☺️

Iris was discarded by a hunter and found her way to Suzanne and Stefan at the gingerbread sanctuary. Thank you ever so much to her incredible mom Jane who fell in love with Iris and took the leap of faith. Just as her name suggests, Iris has a very colorful character 🤣 loves to run and chase, play and snuggle, hang out at the pub and just be loved. She still needs to work on accepting the chickens are her friends, and not on the dinner menu!😅

A huge thank you to Jane who has been so kind and supportive of our efforts with the setters, and also my own setter after he had a major operation.

It’s time for Calypso 🥳
This lovely boy was handed in by a hunter on the island of Thasos, in Greece. He is such a good natured funny boy and was so lucky to find just the PEFRECT family for him.

When Janis wrote in looking to add a setter to her family, they knew it had to be Calypso. He needed treatment before he could travel, but thankfully Janis and her wonderful family waited until that very special day when he made his way over to the the U.K. 🥳

Calypso is having so much fun with his new family. He likes to play with his brother Stanley, and the two of them love to sit on the patio and watch the rain come down together 😂 silly setters! Calypso is a very cuddly boy who especially loves his new little human buddy Rowan, only 6 years old. He’s a quick learner and I was told today that he likes to play with the ball… and even brings it back 😅

Yodel-Ay-Hee-Hoo from Austria 🇦🇹

Little Greek setter Finny made her way home to Austria a few weeks ago. She has settled in brilliantly and is living life to the fullest 😍

Finny loves her furry brother and sister and plays endlessly with them in the garden. She loves to go on long walks and even has very good recall! Well done 🥳 

Finny came to a rescuer in Greece after being abandoned by a hunter, which turned out to be her ticket to paradise. Onwards and upwards for this beautiful girl. Enjoy your days playing, running and being treated like the princess you are. 🧡 we love you, Finny!

Seth is a 7/8 yrs old setter been in kennel for about 3 years.. we inherited him as another rescue abandoned him. He is a perfect boy calm and loves everyone. Except cats.. He is ready to travel.

Here comes Jonny!

This lovely boy is two years old, and will be traveling to Germany in two weeks. He is on the larger side at 60 cm shoulder height, he is neutered, vaccinated, and healthy 🥳

He has already learned most of the basics. He is good on the lead, good with kids, loves other dogs, toilet trained, and ready to move in!

A VERY happy and special update from the boy who overcame all the odds. ☘️

Some of you may remember a beautiful gordon setter originally called Noah, who many thought might not make it, as he was found in such a terrible state. Well, not only did he overcome all the odds, he found happiness in the truest form. 🧡

A very special family followed his story, and decided it was meant to be and welcomed Noah - now Marley- with open arms into their family. Thank you ever so much to Nicola and her wonderful family for offering Marley the life he so deserves. Marley has settled in incredibly well, and loves to play with his brother Jasper! The two have become an absolutely bonded pair, as though they were always together. 🥰 Marley loves his walks on the long lead through the rolling hills, he loves the cafes in his new home town, and well…. He LOVES his new life 😍

A boy found curled up in the corner of an abondoned building clinging to life, is now thriving. Never give up hope, a happy ending is just around the corner even when it’s least expected. Off you go, Marley! 🤩 We’re so touched that you’ve found the love you always longed for.

Handsome lad Elwin is looking for his people. This lovely boy is approximately 4 years old, and a mix between a Setter and a labrador. The best of both worlds! 😍 he loves his cuddles, but certainly not a mad boy on the lead. He walks perfectly right beside you,  and doesn’t show much in terms of prey drive. Must be the labrador in him 😃

Beautiful Turkish girl Polly found her luck in the land of chocolate and cheese… you guessed it, Switzerland 🇨🇭 Lucky Polly! She now gets to enjoy beautiful walks in the mountains, doggie yoga during the day (although she usually falls asleep during class 🤭)and plenty of cuddles with her wonderful moms. Thank you so much to Angela and Nadja for making all of Polly’s dreams come true. She was always a star, but now she can shine bright for everyone to see ⭐️
