Runner's Tongue
We talk running because we're runners. Share your story.
I don't want to be seen while I'm running. I want to find a void and run forever, blowing snot rockets and wheezing and tripping over curbs in peace. No pressure that way. Unfortunately, because I live in a city, that's essentially impossible. But now that it's getting to be spring **holding my breath** and it's sunny more often, I have a secret weapon: sunglasses. A tip of the hat, a wave, even a nod, it's a nice gesture, I think. Not all runners do it, but I would argue that they should. It's encouraging. In that brief moment, that fleeting second where you pass a fellow runner and they acknowledge you, there is a mutual appreciation for what the other is doing. Hey! It's not just me. I don't want to write anything. Just listen. Find that Friday Feeling. And go run. Also, I don't own any rights to this song.

What are those?? Are those my legs? They're so pale. And hairy. Why are my legs so hairy? Why, actually, have I never realized that my legs are so hairy before? It's been so long since I've seen my legs. This feels wrong. Where are my calf muscles? Do I have calf muscles? Maybe they're still hibernating. Whoa. What was that? [ 166 more words. ]

The art of the snot rocket, I'm fairly certain, is much like the art of war. As Sun Tzu elucidates in his little known book, The Art of War, one must "Move swift as the Wind and closely-formed as the Wood. Attack like the Fire and be still as the Mountain.” This is exactly how to approach launching that - well, lets use better termimnolgy - this is exactly how to approach launching gum drops. The dreadmill, the hamster wheel, to many, the word "treadmill" is synonymous with "ugh!" Sure, it's great to be able to run inside when it's snowing, raining, too cold, or two hot, but those benefits don't outweigh the disadvantages. To many runners, that is. But me? I love the treadmill. Love, love, love. And for those of you who don't, here's a list of 3 reasons why you should. [ 219 more words. ]

TFtR: Thought From the Run! I've realized lately how my mind is usually racing faster than my legs on my runs. Everytime I go out for a jog I'm overcome by my thoughts. I ponder everything from blog topics to old memories to questions about life in general (maybe it's because running makes us smarter??). Whatever the reason, I've recently tried to capture more of these fleeting observations and share them with you; hence, welcome "TFtT," (pronounced "tift"), which may be otherwise known as the "Thought From the Run" segment! Thought From The Gym; "I don't know why I dont ever do this!" http://wp.me/p5BChG-cc
Thought From The Gym "I don't know why I don't ever do this." I stood up from the seated row machine and laughed out loud. No one was in the gym and I blurted this myself; I was elated. I had nothing planned to do all day and I was actually enjoying this workout. I hadn't done any weighted training or any lifting at all in the last year. [ 122 more words. ]
