Do you ever feel like your hair is breaking at the ends and around your face but you don't know why?! Sometimes it can be products or the type of straightener you're using BUT do you ever stop to think about your day to day activities.. or your night to night activities?! 😉⠀

Two words. Sheets and jeeps! Take a look at your sheets. Stay away from 100% cotton sheets. During the night, your hair rubs against your pillow and sheets which can cause breakage. Instead, switch to silk or something softer that your hair will glide off of. ⠀
Second word.. jeeps. If you love convertibles or Jeeping (which I mean, come on! Who doesn't?!) Although these things are amazing, stop and think about your hair. Put a hat on and put your hair in a braid to protect it from flying everywhere. Why? Think about it.. if you're cruising down the street in your convertible, every single strand of your luscious locks are getting pounded by 35-65mph winds (depending on how much of a speed demon you are) which is sure to get some breakage and baby hairs around your face! So make sure to protect your hair on the streets... And between the sheets 😉

Its getting closer and closer to my last day doing hair. I look through my work on here and it is such a bittersweet feeling to be coming to the close of this chapter in my life. Thank you all for supporting me and giving me encouraging words these last few months! I love you all!!

Hair tip for dry hair and static: hair static happens when there is a lack of moisture (& of course, mixed with an ugly Christmas sweater!) So when your hair has some extra static, make sure to add a little bit of oil throughout your ends and you can use a light styling hairspray up top! I know that using an oil can sound scary because you don't want your hair feeling or looking oily but Redken Diamond oil is my favorite go-to on dry hair! It adds moisture and a nice natural shine without looking oily or feeling heavy! And it helps to prevent split ends too!

A lot of people are mostly worried about protecting their hair from the heat of styling tools. Well.. have you ever thought about how the sun and the wind effect your hair? The sun's heat can also cause damage and the wind can create damage to the fragile hairs around your face. The solution? Make sure you're always putting some sort of professional heat protection in your hair after the shower. Whether that being a professional spray or a styling mousse to protect your locks from the sun! I personally believe it is best to use 3 products in your hair to protect. I use a styling mousse, an oil, AND a heat protection spray and they all have heat protecting properties!

Just like your skin, your hair needs sunblock too! As for protection from wind, always use protecting and moisturizing products after every shower to keep your hair strong and not so brittle. If you know you're going to be in a situation with a lot of wind, bring a hat for extra protection!

A natural looking balayage is the perfect way to ease into getting your hair colored. I didn't color my hair until a week before I graduated hair school because I was afraid of looking too different. But those subtle lighter pieces really add dimension and life to the hair!

Get the look of highlights without the maintenance! Just ask your stylist to give you a shadow root to blend out harsh foil lines. It also helps you to go longer in between appointments!

A week ago I posted on my story about how I am no longer going to be doing hair, come the new year. I am still getting messages from confused clients asking if I'm done doing hair and so I figured I should probably post on here too!

After I announced that I wasn't going to be doing hair, my heart literally hurt from about 7pm until I fell asleep that night. It sucks saying goodbye to something that I've built, something that gave me the confidence I really needed at the time I needed it. And most of all, it is extremely hard to say goodbye to my amazing clients that have been so good to me and I won't be seeing in my tattoo chair.

This was not an easy decision but I do believe that it's the best one that I can make to reach my newest goals and my steongest passions. As many of you know, I'll be just tattooing from now on and I would love you to follow along on my tattoo page! ( .art ) and I'd love to see your pretty faces and stay connected on my personal page ( ) I'll be sure to follow you back there! Sorry all I post is my "ginger jesus" husband, food, and my dogs. 🤦‍♀️😂

Hair tip:
If you're like me, you HATE washing your hair. So we like to drag it out as long as we can before we wash it. My secret? I use dry shampoo before bed, that's right BEFORE bed. The dry shampoo soaks up your hair's natural oils while you're sleeping instead of in the morning! It makes your hair look cleaner and less oily than if you were to do it in the morning. There are even dry CONDITIONERS now that you can spray on your ends and moisturize those ends in between washes for our dry climate! Amika and Kevin Murphy are my favorite. They smell like heaven even if you're gross like me and only wash your hair every 5 days. 🙋‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I love blending out the root with a toner because it helps to blend the roots when they come in and it fades so nicely! And it looks even better than just one solid color! 🤗

Hair tip: Heat protection spray! Okay, this is something that I feel very passionate about because I feel like everyone's been doing it wrong - including myself! I used to go through bottles and bottles of heat protection spray, spraying it on when wet but then ALSO spraying it on my hair when it was dry, right before styling! Because, DUH! Its heat protection spray so it only makes sense to spray it on right before using heat, right?! Well, that's actually the worst thing you could do for your hair! 😬😬 the reason why it's so bad is because there is alcohol in the heat spray that helps the hair to dry and to activate the other products in the spray so if sprayed on dry hair, the alcohol is making your hair even more dry!! So the spray is actually working AGAINST you! I know, I know! I was shocked too!

So here is how you properly use it: after washing your hair, towel dry your hair, put in any other products you love, and then spray the heat protection spray on DAMP/wet hair! So there you go. I'm sorry to tell you that your life has been a lie (at least about your heat protection using life). It was a shock for me too. 🤔😜
