CWEA-MBS offers local educational events and networking for professionals in the wastewater industry
Collections staff from across the Monterey Bay section participated in an all-day hands-on training on October 11th at the Watsonville Water Resources Center. Topics included: Establishing a Chemical Root Control Program, Nozzle Training and Demo, and Spill Volune Estimation.

Another impressive professional in our section! Congratulations Sergio for being recognized as an Emerging Leader!
Sergio Villegas is the lead operator at South County Regional Wastewater Authority (Jacobs) and one of CWEA's 2022 Emerging Leaders. He is naturally curious and welcomes new challenges. An invaluable part of the Jacobs team, Villegas is still growing and learning in his career and is currently working on his Grade 4 state certification.

Kelvin has been a committed employee of Pebble Beach CSD for the last 26 years. His heart is always there and willing to give people the best advice he can. Kelvin holds a grade 2 Collections System Maintenance certificate. He has served on the board for the CWEA-Monterey Bay Section for the last 3 years and has attended numerous Annual Conferences and trainings. He always encourages coworkers to become active with CWEA.

Join the CWEA-Monterey Bay Section on July 21st for Plant of the Year BBQ and Tour of South County Regional Wastewater Facility (operated by Jacobs), which serves the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill: Winner of the 2021 CWEA Plant of the Year award for MBS. The 8.5 MGD Bardenpho treatment process, upgraded to diffused aeration, is currently undergoing a 2.5 MGD MBR expansion, and its 9 MGD tertiary water system produces Title 22 recycled water to a wide range of users.
A catered BBQ lunch with door prizes will follow. Participants will earn 1 CEU. Cost is $25/person and registration will close at 30 attendees (Monterey Bay Section Members Only).

Congratulations to Kelvin Ellison of Pebble Beach Community Services District for taking home the Collection System Person of the Year award!
Kelvin has dedicated 26 years of his career to working hard and progressing with the district, learning and growing with the new technology and equipment. His positive attitude is esteemed by his coworkers as he comes to work everyday ready to work hard and share his knowledge.
Collection System Person of the Year recognizes an individual for their innovation and excellence in collection systems maintenance.
Kelvin was also awarded the CWEA Quarter Century Award. CWEA Quarter Century Recognition Program honorees have dedicated their careers in a challenging and most vital profession, the water environment field.
