Thank you to those horse people who have consistently, for almost 20 years now, literally pushed me along to be more visible.
I was the most shy kid on the planet. Shy in every way. I had to overcome a lot to do what I came here to do… To make something more visible that wasn't very visible.
The Spirit of the Horse has been my hearts motivation. Horses have been the driving force behind what I do and don't do.
When I was traveling and teaching, you pretty much had to “know someone”
“who knew someone” to know where I was going to be.
I'm gonna be honest, it's still that way. Every time I try to change that, I have to eventually come to the place to remember to surrender to what is. And I'm more than OK with that. It feels better every time I do it.
I'm also OK with the fact that that may change at some point and look very different from what it does now.
The ability to “zig when you need to zig” and “zag when you need to zag” is part of what I'm here to teach. For both horses and humans.
It is a pivotal piece of true embodiment.
Attunement, autonomy, and agency, are true choice and liberation.
If I go into neuroscience and Somatic Education here, I will lose you.
Not because you’re not intelligent, but because I can't go into years of neuro and somatic education and practice in a single post.

So I'm gonna say this in a way that I hope everybody gets.
You may want to do something, but that doesn't mean that your brain has a good motor plan for it.
You may want to do something, but the lower part of your brain may have complete control of the situation. It most likely does. Which means it is beyond your voluntary control and awareness.
Hence, you literally cannot zig when you need to zig.
Or worse, you may and PROBABLY DO zag when you need to zig.
That my friend, over time, will create massive pain in your body.
And pain interrupts a good motor plan.
So at that point you are further down a dark rabbit hole of pain and discomfort (and limitation) in your body.
All of this is directly related to your ability or inability to move with ease and grace.
And the same is true for your horse.

I will probably be 100 years old saying exactly the same thing, hoping those who need to get it will get it.
Do not force or strain, do not yank. You're making it worse.
With your own body or your horses body.
OK I'm gonna stop with that for now.
I am still very much a person who likes to choose who she’s around…
Prefers dirt to concrete and loves horses and all sentient beings.
Including us.
Although I think we’re definitively the hardest species to love, and the most in need of it.
True nature is capable of self-correcting at the drop of a hat.
However, dropping the conditioning is what that's going to take.

Practices are meant to connect you to who you truly are, your true self.
If they’re not doing that, if that’s not occurring, find a different practice, or approach your practice differently.

Cycles of nature like spring always feel so right to me.

It’s the best.

These beginnings and ending of cyclical nature.

Some of them we we naturally prefer, and some of them we don’t.

Anytime something ends, it creates space for new.

And I love that.

Some new awareness, or new sensation. Life is happening all within us and around us. Our calling is to recognize it. And celebrate it in some small way,
or big way, depending on your style.
