Well, shortly after my 13th annual appointment checkup with my transplant team (which is in Dallas, TX) I was faced with another hurdle to leap. It was discovered that after several test and procedures that I’d had a mild heart attack (unbeknownst to me) and that I now have a condition known as transplant vasculopathy or in the medical world it’s often referred to as CAV - cardiac allograft vasculopathy. In other words, it’s a narrowing in the blood vessels of the transplanted heart. At this point, another transplant is the only option.
Pictured here is one of many right-heart catheterizations through the neck, a necessary evil that must be done periodically in order to check the pressures and blood flow in the right side of my heart. During this procedure, the cardiologist inserts a catheter into the vein in the neck or groin, and continues to thread the tube through the blood vessels to the heart 🥴😓. And yes you’re awake while all of this is going on with mild sedation. I’ve been through so many it’s become routine to me now. I just smile to keep the tears at bay. It’s not that bad (most times) 😰

It’s been such a long time since I’ve been on this page that I almost forgot it still existed. Well, I’m back and I will be more active than ever as my life has been just that ... “more than active!” 😘
