Barkley's Blankies

Barkley's Blankies

Blankets for dogs with cancer, in memory of my sweet Barkley. Distributed through the Live Like Roo Foundation. I'm Amanda, Barkley's mama.

Barkley is a very special doxie. He was mine and he died of nasal adenocarcinoma, an awful cancer in his snout. To deal with my grief and honor his memory, I decided to start making blankets for dogs with cancer (Barkley LOVED blankets). I decided that rather than distribute these special blankets myself, I would send them to the Live Like Roo Foundation to be sent in their doggy cancer care packa

We sent a blankie to Trouble all the way up in Alaska! We hope she can feel the love while she fights this cancer πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ thanks to her family for letting us share this precious photo!

We have had a rough Thanksgiving week this year. Lexey (Barkley’s little sister) took a turn Monday night, and we let her go Tuesday morning. She lived to see her Sweet Sixteen this year, and for the last year and a half had been fighting doggy dementia and kidney disease. She leaves behind a younger brother Brinkley and a huge hole in my heart πŸ’”

Are you all in your local Buy Nothing group? If not, I recommend checking it out. This week I came across a post of a fellow member whose dog has a nasal tumor πŸ˜“ I reached out to offer a blankie, and her baby is currently undergoing chemo and I’m hoping they get really good results πŸ’œ it’s been a rough week with Brinkley being sick (he’s doing much better now!), and it’s always hard to learn of nasal tumors, but I always love making these blankies in honor of my sweet Barkley who has been gone seven years now.

Thanks to a generous donation from my friend and follower Diane, I was able to make myself this gorgeous holiday rag quilt! My mom and I worked on it together while I was home for Christmas. Let’s be honest though, my sausage dogs will likely confiscate it as soon as they try it out! πŸ˜… Thank you Diane!!

Welcome to our new followers! We're really glad to have you πŸ€— Last week I received a request for a blankie for a doxie with nasal cancer. As you can imagine it hit home especially hard, but I used this perfect print for him. He should be receiving it this week, and if his mom sends me a photo I'll be sure to share πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
