In a place where Swag and Hyphy defined a location, San Jose California native, JESSE LIVES is abolishing the stereotypical mold of Bay Area music bringing a certain class of wordplay, lyricism, and thoughts over a diverse selection of music. JESSE LIVES is very different from the usual Hip-Hop/Rap suspects as he brandishes a sound that is completely refreshing, undeniably different, and very inno

It's so hard being a writer sometimes because you can tell yourself repeatedly that you're writing for yourself, yet you will always crave the interaction, you will always want to share, and for people to like the thing you put your heart and soul into. It's just hard when you can see the numbers, the constant comparing, having the self-doubt, and wondering why you even bother trying when there are people who don't put in half as much time and effort into what they say doing better than you.
All you can do is keep reminding yourself that it's your story to tell, and no one else can tell it like you. It's your truth, and someone will relate to it, and the numbers do not reflect your worth or your storytelling.
You're incredible and have to keep writing because your story is worth telling.
"Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again."
People will tell you, “it's chess, not checkers.” Not that you asked me, but I think only board people waste their time playing games. See what I did there?
it's always about the views
Tell me some good news.
Remember who said this first.
I take pride in it.
I can count on one hand how many people who've looked out for me on any level. Big ups to the MC that opened the first door for me as an artist. Thanks for always being solid cuz many say they are, but you don't meet very many.
Side note I don't care what nobody says. I was epically fresh that night in my special edition Pepsi all-over print zip-up.
I hope you hear me
As the elders say, "You Gotta Get Out Of Your Own Way."
If it doesn't make sense to you, you might be one of those people.

In this week's episode of Note by Note, we will be talking with . ALASKA REDD’s musical journey began with Fairbanks, Alaska-based 50 Belo Records, in 1994. After the label’s relocation to California in 1998, Redd stayed behind and continued his relentless pursuit of bringing underground Hip Hop from Alaska to the world – and from the earth to Alaska. While helping the culture grow in his hometown and state, he has been labeled a “pioneer of Alaska’s Hip Hop scene” and is highly recognized and respected throughout the region. He has five full-length releases under his belt and has appeared on numerous mixtapes, and has been a featured artist on multiple tracks by well-known artists here in Alaska and the United States. His first album debuted in 2001 and was called “Orgnizdrkus” (Organized-Ruckus). In 2002, he released “Clearer than Black and White,” followed by I.M.W. (Interior’s Most Wanted) in 2004. Alaska Redd then signed other local artists to his ReddDott Productions label and tried his hand at the production side of things, releasing artist Hastyle Reign’s “A Warrior’s Tale” in 2005 and King Slim’s “Crown’d Royal“ in the summer of 2007. Since the fall of 2007, Alaska Redd has expanded his business and musical endeavors by starting and operating a concert promotion company called Permafrost Promotions. Please join us Friday @ 6 pm Est. or 3 pm Pacific time if you are in that part of the world for this fantastic story and artist. Straight from the underground of west coast hip-hop's origins in Compton, California, Sir Jon Lee brings a rejuvenating sound to the city's landscape. Coming from more of a musically-inclined family than most, he spent his childhood years inside recording studios and backstages. His father notably was a vocalist, guitarist, and music producer, and his cousin often accompanied g funk legends Nate Dogg and Butch Cassidy on records. Even through all this, Jon had a deeply rooted passion for music, he didn't have the urge to create. His friends pressured him into a Dip-Set knockoff group during his early teenage years. It wasn't until seeing Kanye West's "Through The Wire" video that he thought he could carve his own lane in the genre.
The trick to believing in yourself is actually believing in yourself.
Now go in peace and bless your heart.
Circa 2013, I remember riding the train writing what would become my next album on the way to this performance. I've rocked everything from coffee shops to arenas. I don't like to live in the past, but I need to, from time to time to, remind myself how long I've been winning and how far I've come.
LIve on-air with one of Topeka, Kansas's finest.
