This morning on Cityline’s “The New Age”, a mini series I have the privilege of presenting, Tracy Moore, Tosca Reno and I dove into the question of being our best selves possible as we age. This is a growing and empowering conversation that warrants attention, as women “of a certain age” are increasingly intent on making their voices heard. So thankful to the Cityline producers for all their support.

This album was brought to life in a short time by an incredible community of creatives. Producer Aaron Goldstein dreamed up some fantastical things in the gorgeous Gold Standard Recorders studio with the help of my dream band featuring Racha Moukalled on vibes, Connor Moe on flute, Robin Hatch on keys, Kate Palumbo on bass, Dani Nash on drums, Tom Moffett on trumpet, Aaron Goldstein on pedal steel, with Josée Caron recording lead guitar remotely. Mastered by Philip Shaw Bova and completed with stunning tintype album artwork taken by Horst Herget, I'm truly humbled to have been lucky enough to work with these fine folk, bringing a once-dreamt-up vision to the real world. I'm so grateful to Liv Sacco for capturing the whole experience on film, Laura-Lynn Petrick and Nina Vroemen for shooting such magical visuals, and ROSE AURA for helping me to understand how I was actually doing during this process. Huge thanks to Micah Barnes and Carolina Eyck for preparing me for the studio, to Music Yukon for preparing me for the biz, and to Jen Cymek (Listen Harder PR) for being the kindest cheerleader I could wish for.
🤍
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. This project was made possible by Yukon Media Development and the Performing Musician Fund.

Wonderfully spirited conversation with the divineCoco Rocha last Thursday night at the Royal Ontario Museum for the launch of Audi Canada’s fully electric Q8 e-tron. “The Art of Audi” campaign used Coco’s emotional response to driving the vehicle to inspire A1 generated art… 🎨🚘❤️

Looking for the light? Listen to the “Women of Ill Repute” podcast I did with Wendy Mesley and Maureen Holloway about all the silver linings I found on my cancer journey….
Jeanne Beker: Silver linings Jeanne Beker has done it all, most of it on TV. Rock ‘n roll, fashion, and now, breast cancer. Unfortunately, Mo and Wendy know too much about the latter…
Always love writing for Watershed Magazine… Interviewing the amazing Greg Keelor was a joy.

Solace in Song

Iconic singer/songwriter Greg Keelor of Blue Rodeo fame finds peace and inspiration in the quiet of the country setting that he calls home.
Greg Keelor’s romance with his country stomping grounds began on a train ride 35 years ago. And he has never looked back. “I was coming home from a show in Ottawa and I decided to take the train,” explains the laid-back musician. “At that point I’d been living in the city and had developed a lot of bad habits. I was partying and drinking and all my friends were musicians and I was hanging out at bars all the time. I knew I needed a change-up. So that was always percolating in the back of my head.” Just past Belleville, looking out the train window, Greg started noticing the drumlins and valleys and rivers this neck of the woods is known for. “I thought, ‘This is gorgeous! Maybe I should think about moving out here.’”

Just wanted to share my daughter Joey O'Neil’s new video for the first single from her new album… Though Joey’s home base is in the Yukon, it’s been heartswelling to have her ‘round these parts on and off this past year, as I navigated my way back to good health… Nothing like a mother’s pride, eh? Anyway, hope you enjoy her music. I sure do. 🥰🎶❤️

I first interviewed Tina Turner when she came to Toronto to perform at at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel’s Imperial Room in 1980. She was incredibly friendly, warm and kind—and amazingly spiritual, talking to me about chanting and meditating and her Buddhist philosophy. Watching her perform that nite, in such an intimate environment, was totally exhilarating. I was in complete awe of all her soulfulness and power…
I met Tina again in 1985 when she came to Toronto to perform with Bryan Adams at the Juno Awards and again, in 1995, when she put on another performance at New York’s Lexington Street Armoury for the first VH1 Fashion and Music Awards. She never disappointed with all her unbridled talent, energy, wit, warmth and charm. The last time I saw Tina was in Paris, at the Spring 2010 Giorgio Armani Privé show. I was blown away that she remembered me, and I was dazzled once more by all her grace and humility.
Throughout my career, I’ve always found that one of the most heartening things in this crazy business is when your heroes don’t let you down. And Tina never, ever did. RIP beautiful lady. What an exquisite privilege it was to know you!💔🙏🏻🌟
