Facebook says I have 95 Instagram followers…. Which is pretty impressive for a guy that’s never made a single Instagram post.
SFGE is officially a bust. Barely any traffic to the table much less sales. It’s a fun show but it’s obviously not for me. Oh well. Looking forward to DragonCon later this year.
They made me take down most of my Shipmates but nevertheless, I’m ready to rock the Southern-Fried Gameing Expo!
Where to find me at SFGE: I'm in the Garden Court of the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, booth #18. Note that as part of the hotel, this area is open to the public so you can come see me for free (you only need a badge to enter the main arcade hall)! I will be taking on-site commissions, and will have t-shirts and prints as usual. See you there!

If you're going to be in Atlanta this weekend consider stopping by the Southern-Fried Gaming Expo and saying hi! I'll be in the dealer's hall! Thanks to Bobby Blackwolf and Voice of Geeks Network for the donation of their table space! I finally received my copies of FOOL’S PLAY with my special Kickstarter dust jacket! Unfortunately all three were damaged in shipping, but hey, at least I’ve got them! Thanks to the folks at Starlit Publishing for making this career milestone happen.
Quick Announcement: I've finally updated the stock on my Etsy page and GAMEMASTER shirts are back in stock! Please note that I am officially retiring the Classic Classes line, so once these shirts are gone, that's it -at least for this iteration... I'll probably upload them onto a POD site like Tee-Public, but we'll see how that goes in the future. To get yours, click the SHOP NOW button above or head on over to https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheFantasticGallery
New PC Portrait commission from last year's DragonCon. Vampire the Masquerade characters! Man, this takes me back. Such a great game. Good times.
The project I did art for last year has gone live on Kickstarter. Show it some love!
3PAGE RPG The three-page table top role-playing game.
Happy New Year! To quote the Beatles, let’s hope this one turns out pretty darned good, eh?
Apparently, I'm dreaming of a soggy Christmas, but I hope yours is blessed with sun and smiles! Merry Christmas!
I hope everyone in America had a safe, happy, and delicious Thanksgiving and everyone elsewhere in the world had a terrifically normal Thursday! Thanks for being a fan!
I've updated my website with a page containing art created prior to 2001, which is to say, 1991-2000. And also a drawing I did when I was 7. Because it's awesome. talonart.com
A mistake was found on the form-fillable version of the L5R character sheet. It has been corrected. Also, the radio buttons on the Wounds section have been replaced with Checkboxes so that they can be toggled on and off. To update your copy, redownload the ZIP from talonart.com or go here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7tq1shy7ig6zuld/L5R-FF.zip?dl=0
I discovered a major mistake on my Legend of the 5 Rings character sheet tonight. It has been corrected and updated on the Character Sheet Archive on talonart.com. Also, a form-fillable version is now included as well.
Also, talonart.com is working again.
A new PC Portrait commission from this year's DragonCon is now up on my deviantART page, along with a piece I did last year for Pine Box Entertainment. Hope y'all like 'em!
My website domain (talonart.com) isn't working. I have no idea why. I've re-entered the DNS configuration details but it apparently takes 24 hours or more to kick in, so in the meantime, the address doesn't work. The site's actual address, talonart.myportfolio.com, works just fine. The site has been updated with my latest art.
My latest piece: the alternate cover for the novel FOOL’S PLAY by David R. Packer & Tao Wong. Check it out in DeviantART! Fool's Play (Book Cover) by Everwho on DeviantArt
If you're wondering what I'm working on right now, this is it: my first novel cover! Check out the Kickstarter and help them out if you can. I'd love to see this project succeed!
Fool's Play - System Apocalypse: Kismet Series Launch Bring to life an exclusive first print of this new post-apocalyptic LitRPG set in the genre-defining System Apocalypse Universe
Surprise! I left all the new prints I worked hard to make last night sitting in my kitchen counter so… disregard my previous announcement. In other news, I’ll have a bunch of new prints available next year!
Surprise! I'll have SEVEN new 8.5x11" b/w prints available for the last day of ! Each of these is a character portrait done in the last few years and are of an extremely limited stock -only three of each! Will these be available next year? Who knows? So get yours while you can in the Dealer's Room, booth 1220 on the 1st floor! See you tomorrow!
Ready to rock DragonCon day 2!
Good first day at DragonCon. Didn’t get a booth picture, but I’ll try for one tomorrow.
Here's this year's How To Find Talon map. See you at !
Will you be looking for me at ? Surprise! I’m in a new spot, although it’s not far from my old spot. I’m still on the 1st floor of the AmericasMart, in the same row, but on the other side of central aisle. If you’re coming in the main entrance, go to the second row, and turn right. If you’re coming down the escalators in the back of the room, go all the way down to the penultimate row, and turn left. The booth’s aren’t labeled in person but on the map, I’m # 1220. Come say hi! I’ll have prints, t-shirts and character portrait commissions! See you there!
I'll have a new FLYBOY print at DragonCon this year. Introducing Miss ALIEN. In space, no one can hear you sigh, seductively.(NSFW)
New art for a Torg Eternity Infiniverse Exchange project I'm working on involving the cosm of Aysle. I'm doing all the art myself so it's going to take a while to finish, but I thought I'd share this as a sort of sneak peak. This is meant to be the royal portrait of one of the game's major NPCs, Pella Ardinay. Dunad save the Queen.
I finally finished a full-color commission that I took at my online "NonCon" in 2020. What can I say? Good art takes time. This guy is a Cyberpapacy character from Torg Eternity. Always fun when I get to draw a character from my favorite RPG.
I use Zapier to mirror my FB posts to Twitter. They just informed me that their Twitter service is now only available via premium accounts and I have 30 days to sign up if I want to keep it. I don't care about Twitter enough to do that so, in 30 days my Twitter account will go inactive again. Follow me on Facebook.
I have posted a new character sheet to my Character Sheet Archive: Free League's ALIEN RPG! Two versions are included, standard and Colonial Marines, along with Printer-Friendly versions of each. And, as a special treat, they're all FORM-FILLABLE!
NOTE: "CCN" stands for "Corporate Contract Number." "SN" stands for "Service Number." These are your Company and Military IDs, respectively. Just make something up.

Illustrator, Designer, Professional Geek
While I’ve been an artist my entire life, I became a professional in 1996 when I got my first illustration assignment from West End Games drawing for the Star Wars RPG supplement, Tapani Instant Adventures. I was still several months from earning my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Auburn University, and still very green. How I got the job in the first place is sort of a long story. The crux of it is that I (inadvertently) helped my high-school buddy, Paul Danner, got a job writing for West End Games. When he was tasked to write the Star Wars book, Wretched Hives of Scum and Villainy, he asked me to provide some NPCs and other game content (which included the now-canon YT-1930 starship!). I agreed in exchange for a “special thanks” credit. When he was unable to provide that credit in the final book, he made up for it by getting my portfolio in front of WEG’s art director. They liked what they saw and contracted me for the “Tapani” book. The door was open, and my foot was firmly placed over the threshold.
After graduating in 1997, I moved to Atlanta, GA. In 1999, I began doing work for the Legends of the 5 Rings CCG, then published by Wizards of the Coast, after showing my portfolio the game’s art director at that year’s Dragon*Con. Later that same year, I answered a call on White Wolf’s website for a new production designer. I interviewed for the position twice, but ultimately lost the job to someone with more graphic design and Adobe experience. Luckily, I made enough of an impression that I was offered an unpaid internship specifically for the purpose of learning the RPG production business and getting that oh-so-important experience. I spent a year at White Wolf doing just that, getting to know the ins-and-outs of book production, layout, and graphic design, acquiring skills that I still use today. When my internship ended, White Wolf began giving me illustration jobs, starting with the Ravenloft 3.0 core rulebook. I soon became their go-to guy for Ravenloft and their D&D line, Sword & Sorcery Studios.
Doing work for White Wolf began to open some doors for me. I got work from publishers like Kenzer & Co., Green Ronin, and the new incarnation of West End Games (then owned by Purgatory Press). My work began to appear in such products as Mutants & Masterminds, Knights of the Dinner Table, D6, and TORG Revised & Expanded. My White Wolf work also continued and eventually branched into non-SSS projects like Vampire The Eternal Struggle, Mage The Awakening, Aberrant, and Pendragon. Business was booming and I was reaping the whirlwind, so to speak.
By 2006 or so, the “d20 bubble” had burst, and the RPG industry had hit a slump. Work slowed. White Wolf was bought out and moved to Europe. A lot of my small-press clients went out of business or moved on to other projects. I soon found myself with enough free time to begin working on my own ideas. I partnered with another artist, T.Catt, on an adults-only RPG book for 3e D&D, Sisters of Rapture. I formed my own self-publishing imprint called “Fantastic Gallery,” and in 2008, we published Sisters of Rapture under the Open Gaming License through the PDF-driven web-store, DriveThruRPG. For the first time, I was able to really use the skills I’d picked up at White Wolf, taking on the mantle of art director and publisher for the book. While not without expected controversy, Sisters of Rapture was immediately successful enough to encourage me to continue my self-publishing endeavors, with followup titles like The Sensitive and Children of Wyrms.
