Después de semanas de trabajo apasionado con la participación de más de 300 amigxs y miles de bolsitas de plástico recicladas, se inaugura el Museo Aero Solar Rosario a las 12 del mediodía.

Nacido en conversaciones entre Tomás Saraceno y Alberto Pesavento en 2007, el Museo Aero Solar se despliega en un espacio telurico formado por seres humanos y no humanos a través de los sencillos actos de cooperación y la reutilización de bolsas de plástico, dando vida a una escultura aerosolar.
Durante su construcción, el público es invitado a dejar su huella, dibujando, escribiendo historias, creando sueños y deseos.

🌿✨ Calling the Aerocene Community in Berlin! Join us in June for an enchanting experience in the heart of the city! ✨🌿

Renae Shadler & Collaborators present Greyline, a captivating performance and moving installation happening on June 15, 16, and 23 at 14:00 hr in Gleisdreieck Park.

The concept of the “grey line” - marks the delicate, blurred and difficult to define transition from day to night. In the new performance and moving installation Greyline by Renae Shadler, the movements of five dancers intertwine with two ethereal Aerocene sculptures in Gleisdreieck Park. These 400 cubic metre sculptures, inflated with air, carried by wind and lifted by the sun, give form to the invisible materials and atmospheres that surround us. In this age of climate inequality, they invite the audience to blur the distinction between human and non-human bodies and question geopolitical boundaries.

The choreography Greyline seduces us into a poetics of movement: the dancers wander through the park and melt into the atmospheric qualities of the sun, air and wind that drive the large-scale sculptures. In this way, they subvert the boundaries of territories or states that are not recognised by these three global entities. During the performative parkours, the audience - surrounded by an airy vocal composition - accompanies the dancers.

Hoy a las 11 a.m., el corazón de la FADU latió al ritmo de miles de manos que se unieron en un aplauso por la Universidad Pública. En el patio central, dos paños de Museo Aero Solar en construcción, representaban la metáfora de una construcción aún más importante y colectiva: la de la educación pública.

Con esa energía vibrante como telón de fondo, se retomó la construcción de un Museo Aero Solar -Iniciado en conversaciones entre Tomás Saraceno y Alberto Pesavento en 20070-, en manos de profesorxs y alumnxs de la Cátedra Proyectual Goldenstein .goldenstein de la FADU, UBA.

Dos paños de 6 x 18 mts, cada uno tejido con miles de bolsas recicladas, cobraron vida bajo la energía de decenas de estudiantes de la cátedra, ayudantes, profesorxs y centenares de alumnos de otras materias que vitoreaban desde los balcones de la FADU. En dos horas, lo imposible se hizo realidad: la construcción, habitación interior y posterior vuelo de dos Museos Aero Solares.

Luego, un grupo de estudiantes, con manos y corazones voluntariosos, plasmó en una escultura Aerocene una leyenda elegida colectivamente: DEFENDAMOS LA EDUCACIÓN PÚBLICA ARGENTINA. Este globo aero solar, símbolo de nuestra lucha, surcará los cielos en la Marcha Nacional Universitaria que se realizará mañana, desde la Plaza del Congreso hasta la Plaza de Mayo.

La actividad contó una vez más con el apoyo incondicional del equipo docente de la Cátedra Proyectual Goldenstein, liderado por la incansable Flavia Goldenstein, junto al entusiasmo inagotable de Carlos Almeida .unsam y Joaquín Ezcurra .ez, de las comunidades Museo Aero Solar y Aerocene.

Hacemos un llamado a toda la comunidad de Aerocene, de la FADU, UBA y de todas las Universidades Nacionales de Argentina a unirse en defensa de la educación pública, la ciencia y el sistema universitario nacional en la Marcha Nacional Universitaria del martes 23 de Abril. Nuestro punto de encuentro será la esquina Avenida Callao y Pte. Perón a las 3pm.

Today, April 22 is International Mother Earth Day.

On Sunday, April 14, the Aerocene community gathered in Zurich’s Kasernenareal park for a solar flight, which was attended by many friends: Martina Huber , Gianni Jetzer , and Aerocene human flight pilot Lea Zeberli .ch, along with Pep Juliá, . Collectively they chose to write a caption on the balloon that read “LA TIERRA SE LEVANTA”

The Aerocene Community is really excited to have been part of “Planetary Narratives 2: Fly with Pacha into the Aerocene” on 11 April 2024, in Zurich, Switzerland.

Organised by WeAreAia .art and Art2m , the programme began with a tour of the More-Than-Planet exhibition with curators Ewen Chardronnet .chardronnet and Martina Huber , followed by a presentation on the current controversy of Anthropocene voting by Debjani Bhattacharyya, Professor of Anthropocene History at the University of Zurich. We were also joined by artists of the exhibition Maya Minder , Monica Ursina Jäger , and partners Roland Fischer .space, .zurich, and .

With the presence of the co-director of the documentary Maximiliano Laina and Aerocene activist Olivia Laina, the film “Fly with Pacha, to the Aerocene” was screened at the Schwarzescafé of Luma Westbau . Afterwards there was a conversation between members of the Aerocene community and the audience about the current situation of the indigenous communities in Salinas Grandes de Jujuy.

El jueves pasado, profesorxs y alumnxs de la Cátedra Proyectual Goldenstein .goldensteinde la FADU, UBA, realizaron el armado de un nuevo Museo Aero Solar, continuando ya una larga tradición de la cátedra. La construcción fue acompañada por, además de la títular de cátedra Flavia Goldenstein, Carlos Almeida .unsam y Joaquin Ezcurra .ez, de las comunidades Museo Aero Solar y Aerocene.

En esta oportunidad, se invitó a lxs alumnxs de la Cátedra a pensar sobre el valor de la universidad pública y abierta, en el contexto del gravísismo desfinanciamiento que propone el gobierno actual, en el cual está literalmente amenazada la continuidad de clases en las universidades públicas del país.

Iniciado en conversaciones entre Tomás Saraceno y Alberto Pesavento en 2007, el Museo Aero Solar se desarrolla en el espacio formado entre participantes humanos y no humanos en los simples actos de cooperación y reutilización de bolsas de plástico para producir colectivamente una escultura aerosolar, capaz de moverse en el aire, utilizando sólo la energía del Sol.

In the Andean culture, Pacha is a superior energy that organizes and harmonizes all inhabitants in the Cosmos. Fly with Pacha, into the Aerocene is a collaborative, ongoing movie, a message, a sculpture, a journey around the sun with Pachamama, a space-time towards an era of complementarities.

In Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc Basin, Jujuy, Argentina, communities co-organized a performance in solidarity with Kollas Indigenous Peoples, protecting their ancestral lands from lithium extraction, for eco-social justice in the name of the peoples of the Global South. Initiated in 2017, with additional archival fragments dating from 2006 onwards, this project is an ongoing dialogue with these communities.

Aerocene is an era-in-the-making, a community, a non-profit foundation.

Thank you in Beijing, China, who allowed so much space and voice to the Indigenous Communities of Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc in Jujuy, Argentina, whose efforts to protect their land against harmful lithium extraction endure. Other voices are heard today opposing extranational mining projects that continue to scale in size and presence across the Jujuy region. ‘Complementarities’ is open until August 18, 2024.

For millennia, people have looked to the clouds to read the climate, their shapes forewarning of storms, floods and pollution. What stories do clouds embody today? Most ubiquitously, a story of neo-colonial, industrial extraction, as physical clouds are drained, converted, and evaporated as fuel for digital clouds of memory and technologies of control—clashing with clouds of ancestral memory. Clouds in formation… clouds of mis/information: both typologies return us to the cycle and agencies of water.

Inside the exhibition, an intergenerational artwork is underway, made with and for the communities in Jujuy, who are fighting to protect their ancestral lands from the destructive exhaustion of groundwater, where as much as 2 million liters is depleted in order to extract each tonne of lithium. Nearby, ‘Fly with Pacha, Into the Aerocene’ is presented on a 20 meter-long screen, portraying the long-standing relationship between the Aerocene Foundation, the communities in Jujuy, and the many voices who came together last January for the Alfarcito Gathering—including representatives of the Colectivo de Acción por la Justicia Ecosocial (CAJE).

This room has been conceived with the Aerocene community and features cloud imaginations by children from the communities in Jujuy. Floating on the walls are drawings by Rae Burdett, Kasper Diamantis, Elio Galliano Launder, Dennis Mealor, Gabriel Morales, Este Naylor, Lautaro Quipildot, and many more that have contributed since the exhibition opened.

On World Water Day, we stand with the Indigenous Communities of Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc in Argentina, advocating for the sustainable management of our planet’s precious freshwater resources.

For the Indigenous communities, water is life, crucial to their guardianship and livelihood upon this land. These communities are at the forefront of a struggle against lithium mining, which threatens their water supply by using up to 2 million liters of groundwater per ton of lithium extracted. This case highlights a broader issue: the need to balance our quest for renewable energy sources with the imperative to preserve natural resources and respect indigenous rights.

The climate emergency further complicates the global water crisis by causing erratic weather patterns, leading to floods in some areas and droughts in others. It’s a stark reminder of the importance of protecting our water sources for all life on Earth.

To imagine together how digital and physical clouds are interlinked in water cycles and how cities can be reimagined, we invite you to draw upon the ocean of air and interpret a cloud’s multitudinal relations via cloudcities.org. Towards a collaborative artwork with and in solidarity with the communities of Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc, cloudcities.org uses a new economic model called Partial Common Ownership (PCO), whereby each artwork will not be traditionally owned by anyone, but will instead be passed into a unique form of collective stewardship, in which the works’ temporary caretakers will serve the communities’ ongoing efforts to maintain their ecosystem.

Nos complace anunciarles la inauguración de la exhibición “Lo que la noche le cuenta al día”, concebida por el PAC de Milán, la cual tendrá lugar hoy sábado a las 17 horas en Fundación Proa, ubicada en Av. Pedro de Mendoza 1929, en el barrio de La Boca.
Como parte de la experiencia, se proyectará “Vuela con Pacha, hacia el Aeroceno” en un monitor dentro de la muestra.

Fly with Pacha, Into the Aerocene will be part of Art for Action.

Directed by Maximiliano Laina () & Tomás Saraceno, Fly with Pacha is an ongoing audio visual project that portrays the long-standing relationship between Tomás Saraceno, the community he founded and the Indigenous Communities of Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc, in Jujuy, Argentina, who are fighting to protect their land against the rapid corporate extraction of lithium from the Salt Flats, driven by the demand for batteries, which is depleting water resources in the region and contaminating the Earth.

In Jujuy in January 2020, the aerosolar sculpture Aerocene Pacha rose using only the air and the sun, completely free from fossil fuels, batteries, lithium, helium, and hydrogen, becoming the most sustainable flight in human history. This journey set 32 world records, with Aerocene pilot Leticia Noemi Marques who flew with the message “Water and Life are Worth More than Lithium” written by the Indigenous Communities of Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc.

Three years later, in January 2023, the community gathered once again, as national and international geopolitical and commercial interests continued to pressure the basin. Faced with the worsening of the climate crisis and the urgency of the energy transition, the message is: We no longer want to be a sacrifice zone. The transition cannot reproduce the same neocolonial politics that have been imposed on the Peoples of the South, amplifying social, ethnic and environmental inequalities. The Rights of Nature movement is striving for rivers, lakes, and mountains to bear legal rights in the same, or at least a similar, manner as human beings. We must listen to the voices of the territories, in defence of water, salt flats and the commons, for an ecosocial energy transition!

En 2023 lanzamos la segunda edición del diario Aerocene, dedicado especialmente a las Comunidades Indígenas de la Cuenca de Salinas Grandes y Laguna de Guayatayoc , a la resistencia y el compromiso por la defensa del agua, los territorios y sus costumbres ancestrales en la provincia de Jujuy, Argentina.

Surge como parte del diálogo y las acciones en constante desarrollo llevadas a cabo  por las comunidades indígenas, la comunidad Aerocene y distintxs referentes de las ciencias sociales, ambientales y del mundo del arte.  

Hoy ponemos el foco en dos artículos que relacionan la experiencia del vuelo aerosolar con las problemáticas socioambientales de la minería del litio:

- “Notas sobre Vuela con Aerocene”, por Tomás Saraceno : relata la experiencia emocional y desafiante de un vuelo experimental con Aerocene Pacha, un vehículo aéreo sostenible que no utiliza combustibles fósiles, destacando la importancia de métodos alternativos de vuelo y la conexión con prácticas ancestrales y la naturaleza.

- “Ligereza y gravedad: Vuelo y mineralidad” por Janine Randerson explora la interacción entre la tecnología de vuelo sostenible de Aerocene Pacha y la problemática ambiental y social de la minería de litio en Salinas Grandes, Jujuy, enfatizando la necesidad de escuchar a las comunidades indígenas y buscar alternativas ecológicas al consumo insostenible.

What do “reparations” mean in the context of climate justice? In many regions of the world, marginalised people are suffering considerably due to environmental destruction and the consequences of climate change, for which Western industrialised countries and companies bear responsibility. The symposium will discuss the historical, economic and ecological contexts of climate change and legal and political claims for reparations from the former colonial powers.

Hoy se regresan al territorio con la misma convicción que lxs empujo a Buenos aires para exigir la nulidad de la reforma.

No, no se van porque los desalojan sino porque llegó la hora del regreso luego de 4 meses de permanencia. La lucha continua.

4 D Crónica de una jornada de lucha contra el extractivismo

Por la tarde nos dirigimos hacía la plaza Lavalle frente a Tribunales donde las comunidades indígenas de Jujuy acampan desde hace 4 meses esperando respuesta a su reclamo de anular la reforma a la constitución de Jujuy efectuada por el gobernador Gerardo Morales.
Allí, nos esperaban miembros del Tercer Malon de la Paz para escribir sobre un globo Aerocene la frase “Arriba los derechos, abajo la reforma inconstitucional “.

Una vez escrita la frase con cinta blanca de papel, caminamos hasta el obelisco donde se concentraban grupos ambientalistas para marchar hacia Plaza de Mayo.

Intentamos inflar el globo pero el viento y una incipiente llovizna nos impidió volarlo por lo que abortamos inmediatamente la primera parte del plan.

La segunda parte se desarrollaría justamente en plaza Lavalle, frente a los Tribunales de la Nación.
La idea era proyectar “Vuela con Pacha, hacia el Aeroceno” para compartirla junto al Tercer Malon de la Paz.

La organización fue de modo informal y muy familiar. Una amiga ofreció llevar su proyector de video y una pantalla de diapositivas. También contábamos con un equipo de sonido que les habían prestado al Malon un par de noches antes para la realización de un festival.

Tardamos bastante tiempo en compatibilizar los equipos pero luego de un saumo y las palabras de Willie mágicamente todo comenzó a funcionar.
Las imágenes de Pacha ondulaban con la brisa del viento sobre la pequeña pantalla de diapositivas que heroicamente se erguía desafiando desde el campamento al edificio donde ejercen los jueces de la corte suprema, lugar que representa un sistema judicial que desde el primero de agosto del 2023 rotundamente lxs ignoró…

Mensaje de una amiga:
“No encuentro poner palabras de la experiencia de anoche…
Fue como respirar la cordillera en medio de la plaza una gran burbuja protejida por el saumo y la atmósfera se volvió otra impregnada de ese silencio de la tierra que habla por los poros…”

Aerocene Community เป็นหนึ่งในโครงการของ โทมัส ซาราเซโน ศิลปินชาวอาร์เจนตินา ซึ่งพำนักและทำงานในกรุงเบอร์ลิน โครงการศึกษาของเขาเน้นสื่อสารเกี่ยวกับรูปแบบของชีวิตและการสร้างชีวิต การพิจารณาใหม่ถึงกระแสความรู้ที่มีอิทธิพลต่อสังคมในยุค Capitalocene (ยุคที่ระบบทุนนิยมไม่เพียงแต่มีฐานะบทบาทในระบบเศรษฐกิจเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นแนวทางในการจัดการความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์กับสิ่งต่าง ๆ ในธรรมชาติอีกด้วย) และการตระหนักรู้ว่าความหลากหลายของรูปแบบการดำรงอยู่นั้นทำงานกับความหลากหลายของความหมายจำนวนมากได้อย่างไร เป็นเวลากว่าสองทศวรรษที่ ซาราเซโน ได้ดำเนินโครงการต่าง ๆ เพื่อนำไปสู่การสร้างชั้นบรรยากาศร่วมกัน เช่น โครงการ Arachnophilia ที่มุ่งสร้างสังคมที่ปราศจากการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนเพื่อความยุติธรรมทางสิ่งแวดล้อมและสังคม รวมไปถึงมูลนิธิ Aerocene Foundation (พ.ศ. 2558) และโครงการ Museo Aero Solar (พ.ศ. 2550)
Museo Aero Solar เป็นประติมากรรมลอยได้โดยไม่ใช้เชื้อเพลิง ทำจากถุงพลาสติกใช้แล้วมาประกอบกันเป็นบอลลูนยักษ์ที่ลอยได้ด้วยหลักการความร้อนและความหนาแน่นของอากาศ เราได้เปิดรับบริจาคถุงพลาสติกจากชาวเชียงราย และอยากสร้างงานศิลปะชิ้นนี้ร่วมกับชาวเชียงรายเช่นกัน กิจกรรมนี้เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ที่สนใจเข้าร่วมได้โดยไม่จำกัดช่วงอายุ เพื่อให้ได้มาพบเพื่อนและประสบการณ์ใหม่ในการสร้างบอลลูนยักษ์และลอยมันด้วยกัน!
