A Good Designer designer does not wait to be told he is skilled, he knows it and says it to himself every day.
Being a good designer is not just about having skills but also respecting your clients and colleagues. No matter how skilled you are, you still need people. So respect their opinions, beliefs and ideas.
Humility is also a must. It will help you. "HAVE CONFIDENCE AND TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR WORK, BUT ALWAYS STAY HUMBLE AND APPROACHABLE.
Here are three examples of prideful behavior to avoid in a designer-client relationship:
🔵Ignoring Client Feedback: Dismissing or disregarding client suggestions because you believe your design choices are always better.
🔵Refusing Co-Operation: Insisting on doing everything your way without considering or valuing input from colleagues or clients.
🔵Rejecting Criticism: Reacting defensively to constructive criticism instead of viewing it as an opportunity for improvement.
With Love

Things I Wish I Knew as a Young Designer - PART 1
1. SAYING NO TO CLIENTS WHO ARE NOT CERTAIN ON WHAT THEY WANT.
Early in my design career, I worked with people I knew who often refused to give clear briefs and would carelessly say "JUST DO WHAT YOU CAN."
At first, I would agree and use my creative skills to try and figure out what they actually needed. Because of my experience and creativity, I was able to deliver and satisfy my clients. At times, I would use this as an opportunity to showcase my brilliance.
However, I later realised that was a draining process and caused me losses. I ended up wasting time. With The time I spent going back and forth on one project, I could have done two or three different projects.
Lessons I Learned:
Insisting on Clear Briefs: I learned to always demand detailed project briefs to avoid guesswork and confusion.
Setting Firm Boundaries: Defining the project scope from the start helps prevent endless revisions.
SAYING NO CAN SAVE ME MONEY: If clients still refuse to provide clarity, on what they want, I do not need to commit to a project that will require my resources and time.
MY ADVICE:
New designers, prioritise setting clear boundaries and insisting on detailed briefs to protect your time and ensure quality work. Saying no when necessary shows respect for your skill and leads to better outcomes for you and your clients.
