So we found our "electrical" issue that has been creeping up for a few weeks now... tomorrow we go test to see if it is finally rectified... Well done to Keagan. Drove very well. Now the gloves come off for the new season. Bring on 2023/2024.

What a day. I think my body at the moment is testament to the conditions at times.

We arrived at the second leg of our South African F1 powerboat series well prepared and ready for any challenge from all the competitors. Although the win was convincing, it was no easy feit as it would be the first full race in the newly rebuilt DAC. The weather and water conditions were challenging and threw us a curve ball every few laps with something new to learn about the boat and the engine package that we ran. We came into this event in the lead of the championship and we extend that points lead even further, thus cementing a possible championship win slightly more. Rest assured, we won't be complacent and will continue to expect a strong challenge from all the other challengers in the series. The progress in development and speed from all of them is excellent and is making the midfield race very tight and exciting. I think it has been quite a while since a 6 boat show could all finish on the same lap on a low 40-42 second circuit.

As for my team mate for the day, Greg, I am well impressed and proud of you. You drove well for a comeback after 10 years and it was evident that you only got more and more confident in the boat with each heat. I would put money on you being up in front within 2 race events. Well done!!!

To my team, Kyle, Dad, Ant, Chad, thank you very much for the help. Albeit a rushed day, we didn't have to spanner too hard. I think we have proved now that homework is done at home and fun is done at the races.

To our sponsors, Laszlo from RDS, Main Man, TAU Energy, Banjopro, thank you for this great opportunity once again. Without all of you, this passion would merely be but a dream.

And lastly, our supporters and followers. Thank you for the warm words of encouragement and well wishes. It is humbling at times to see and read the comments etc at each event. It is really appreciated.🙏

Sorry for the late post.

We walked away with a 1st place on Saturday. We won the first and second heat and the third heat was called due to bad light. We ended up driving the #7 RDS boat after the #13 boat had engine failure. The #7 boat is a lot faster than it was at Rynfield dam. We are easily, a comparative 2 seconds a lap, faster than what we were at Rynfield dam after the #7 boat's weight loss program that saw us remove up to 17 layers of paint in some places. (Easily 20-25kg in total after other changes too.) We were looking forward to racing the new #13 boat but due to the engine failure, we opted to race the other boat... The first 2 "fairly fast" laps we did during practice was an eye opener with the new boat even if we had roughly 60L of fuel in the boat to weigh it down a bit in the wind. This boat is easily an extra 2 seconds a lap faster than the #7 boat which is unimaginable at the moment... We are looking forward to testing the #13 boat again soon to see what it REALLY goes like when I ring it's neck properly... I would like to thank our sponsors, Laszlo from Retail Design Solution. Without you, none of this would have been possible... Then I'd like to thank Banjopro, TAU Energy, G&A Motorsport, Mainman, Raise and Rescue for their support too.

This season will be testing wrt getting F1 up and going again but the continued interest that we see when we talk about or even tow a race boat around is very positive and with some hard work we are looking at a very positive 11 or 12 boats at the end of our season...

So we look forward to the next event and challenge from our fellow competitors. The guys are starting to put in some hard work and effort and it has been seen and noted... we cannot rest on our laurels, so we will also be working hard to stay on top...

See you all at the next event. Keep safe.

Bruce Repsold.

2 days to go...

Photos from F1 Joy Ride's post 14/10/2022

So after another few months, we are happy to report that both Team RDS boats are almost finished. The #7 boat has has a massive weight reduction and should be considerably lighter and faster than at the Rynfield dam event last April. It turns out that this boat belonged to Pertti Lepalla(spelling?) in 1996 so we know it is fast. The #13 boat which I will be piloting is going to be a rocket. The boat will be under weight, giving us the opportunity to fine tune the balance in smooth and rough water. I cannot wait to go test both boats in a few week's time to compare performances.

So over the last few months, the 1998 DAC is starting to take shape. Hopefully we can go test soon and prepare for the new season that starts September/October. The last race in April, I raced in my team mate's boat with great results. We finished a great 2nd place(if you can count) after 11 years out of the seat. The new boat is very much the same in dimensions. Has 5mm more taper and probably 20-30kg lighter. So we are hopefully going to be a lot faster than at the Rynfield dam race. Only time will tell. As soon as we have more news and progress photos, I will be sharing again.
