Wishing all our families a joyous Heritage Day!

This special occasion is an opportunity for us to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and histories that shape our community. It’s a time to reflect on the diverse backgrounds from which we come and honor the stories passed down through generations.

As we gather with loved ones today, let’s cherish the unique customs that define our identities—whether it's sharing traditional meals, participating in cultural dances, or storytelling sessions filled with wisdom and laughter.

As the flowers bloom and the weather warms up, spring offers a delightful opportunity for toddlers and babies to explore the great outdoors. Engaging them in seasonal activities can stimulate their senses and foster development.

Nature walks are perfect for little ones; they can observe colourful blossoms, listen to birds chirping, and feel the gentle breeze on their skin. Bring along a small basket for collecting interesting leaves or smooth stones, encouraging curiosity about nature.

Playdates at parks provide space for social interaction with peers. Encourage imaginative play by setting up scavenger hunts or simple outdoor games that promote movement. Or consider sensory play using safe materials like sand or water tables filled with plastic toys. These activities not only entertain but also enhance fine motor skills through pouring, scooping, and digging.

With term 3 almost coming to an end and Term 4 starting in October, more classes have been added to the schedule!

There is something undeniably beautiful about spring, especially when it comes to the joyful energy of toddlers and babies.

As nature awakens from its winter slumber, vibrant flowers bloom and trees regain their lush greenery. This season serves as a backdrop for the innocent delight that little ones express in their interactions with the world around them.

Toddlers experience everything with an unfiltered sense of wonder; they marvel at blooming flowers, chase butterflies, and splash in puddles after rain showers. Their laughter echoes through parks filled with families enjoying picnics under blue skies.

Babies, perched on blankets or cradled in arms, gaze wide-eyed at the colourful sights and soft sounds of springtime. The gentle warmth of sunlight warms their skin as they coo and wiggle excitedly.

Together, these young souls embody pure joy during this magical season—a reminder for all to embrace life’s simple pleasures amid nature's rebirth.

With a New Franchise Name, I guess it is time to introduce myself to all the new followers and mommies onboard.

Hi, I am Jolandi.

I grew up in the Swartland and ended up marrying an Italian from Cape Town.

We have 2 beautiful boys, Alex (5) and Luca (1). Luca also had a twin sister, Layla.

I have an immense passion for people, helping people, guiding people, and entertaining them. I have an extensive background in Hospitality Management, especially Boutique Hotels, Restaurants and Revenue Management.

How did a hotelier end up with a baby stimulation workshop?
Luca was born profoundly deaf in both ears. And I just could not see myself returning to work as I only want the best for him (and his brother). We attended Moms and Babes Durbanville, as I had to socialise with other moms and he needed baby friends his own age. I instantly fell in love with the workshops and the way of teaching. Feeling like a family when you walk through the doors.

I have always had a love for children, and is always ending up entertaining them at any event. I have loads of love to give, fun ideas to share and wonderful memories to be made. Moms and Babes Northern Suburbs is a non judgement space. A safe space for all Moms. We share stories, laugh and sometimes cry together. Life long friendships are being made, not just for the babies, but the Moms aswell.

Lots of love and laughter
X

We have some exciting news to share.

Can you guess what it is?

Let the creative juices flow and watch as your little one enjoys some sensory play with this simple foam recipe. It's a great way to keep them entertained and engaged while also allowing them to explore different textures and colours.

Bubble foam is such a fun alternative to regular water play!

To make bubble foam place 1/2 cup of tear-free bubble bath in a bowl with 1 cup of water. You can use dish soap instead but just be aware this may sting their eyes if they rub them.
Add a few drops of food colouring (optional).
Use an electric mixer or blender to mix the ingredients together until you start to get stiff peaks.
Scoop out the bubble foam into your tray. If you have some liquid left at the bottom of the bowl just give it another whizz and you’ll be able to use that too.

Share your pictures with us below – we can't wait to see what you and your babe create together.

Sensory play is essential for the development of babies and toddlers, it helps them explore and understand the world around them through their senses. Engaging in activities such as playing with textured materials, exploring different scents, and experimenting with various sounds can help stimulate their brain development and enhance their cognitive skills.

As well as aiding in helping to improve their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and language development. It allows them to express themselves creatively and encourages them to use their imagination. One thing we have found, that people didn't know - it also has a calming effect on children, helping them regulate their emotions and reduce stress.
