Athena is not keen on strangers touching her. I understand their attraction, but I get upset when they don't respect her boundaries and want to force an interaction that makes her uncomfortable, so I made her a bandana to keep the stranger danger at bay!

Consensual touching doesn't just apply to humans. Not all dogs like to be touched and fussed over, especially not by strangers. Also, sticking your hand in their face "so they can smell you" is a forceful and non-consensual interaction.

Bottom line: if a dog wants your attention, THEY WILL COME TO YOU. If they don't, suck it up and walk away. You are not entitled to their affection, no matter how cute or majestic they are.
