I celebrated by 40th birthday a few days ago (and yes I consciously celebrated my life). The days leading up to my birthday was a time of deep reflection. I cried a lot. I cried out of sadness, I cried out out of relief, I cried out of grief and I cried out of gratitude. Although these emotions were completely overwhelming I sat with them and acknowledged them with compassion. Slowly they left and I then celebrated my life even though the vision I had for my life is not the life I’m living now. Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through.
