So this weekend I learned a very harsh lesson in listening to my guidance & intuition at all times. Let me set the scene....
This tiny little field mouse kept coming into the house, and by the 4th time we rescued him from the cats, the poor little guy was exhausted and passed out completely. We decided it would be better to put him in a little box and release him in the field at the end of our street in the morning.
He slept there in that box for the longest time, but finally got up. I put some food in for him and a ramekin of water.
Now the minute I took that ramekin out the cupboard, my internal voice said "it's too big, he might drown". I quieted the voice by only putting in a little bit of water.
So in the box the ramekin of water went.
Little guy was eating and recovering. So, I get the idea to put more water into the ramekin so he doesn't struggle to reach it and accidentally fall in. So I put in a little more water.
Time to go to bed, the voice in my head goes "Take the ramekin out" I think, well no, what if he gets thirsty? What if he dehydrates? I am sure he is clever enough to just go up to the edge and not fall in and if he does, I am sure he can get out. Mouses are clever.
Go to bed, wake up the next morning and skip off to check on my little mousie friend.
To my horror. Exactly what the voice in my head warned me about happened. The little guy is in the ramekin. Dead.
It never occurred to me that he might want to clamber onto the edge to try and get out the box. He is so little that the small ramekin is like a pool for him. He probably fell in and exhausted himself trying to get out and ultimately drowned.
I felt like garbage. And I know to some of you reading this you might think, "it's just a mouse". But it is about more than that for me. And I also believe that a life is a life whether it is an ant or a human or a mouse. I failed that little guy by not listening to that voice in my head.
Earlier that evening, the voice (my intuition) told me to go fetch my daughter from work instead of letting her get an uber. That I listened to.
This for me was a huge lesson to not make the things I see and that quiet voice out as an over active imagination or intrusive thoughts. To listen at all times, not just sometimes.
Even though inadvertently, I am responsible for the little guy's untimely demise. I am grateful for the lesson. I am sorry little dude. RIP. And of course, I went to look up what message mouse brings us.
"The greatest sacrifice mouse will ever make is his life. His flesh with likely turn to fox flesh or hawk flesh or snake flesh. We must not miss that key of mouse medicine. His little, seemingly insignificant life, is important. Mouse spirit animal teaches us about the power of humility.
When looking at what does mouse mean in your life, know that the little helper is here to remind us that more often than not our wishes come true in between the lines and inside the ordinary. Answered prayers are between blades of grass and inside fine heads of seed.
The universe is conspiring to shower you with tiny, quiet miracles every single moment of your life. Mouse spirit animal knows this. This is what makes mouse a monk. If only we all could know this. Mouse in his quiet, unassuming way prompts us to remember that miracles make sense in the quiet where nothing else clouds our thoughts. Miracles make sense when living a tiny life in a tiny universe. Mouse knows this. This is what makes mouse a monk. If only we all could know this. When we stop looking far and wide and outside of ourselves for the answers and, instead, truly focus on what is right here with us, we begin to see the Divine in the details.
One last message from mouse spirit animal β remember the mystical law that βwhat is small is really bigβ."

It really is a privilege for someone to open up and be vulnerable with you! I think as lightworkers/coaches we sometimes can lose sight of that. It is a precious gift when someone drops their walls to let you in. Be who they are and allow you to witness it. To listen to their stories. To keep them safe.

Tomorrow is As Is Healing's 1st birthday π₯³
This past year has flown by! My expectation was to have had a story of how I made millions this past year but, unfortunately, I have no such story. The story I have is much different from my lofty goals and my expectation of success.
Looking back over the past year of committing to my journey as an entrepreneur, I had setbacks, failures, and resistance, to name but a few. I will freely admit that I did not have a clue how to run a business.
Well I did, but I also didn't LOL!
This year I have learned valuable lessons. I learned what it looks like when I hide and try to play small. I learned what self-sabotage looks like. I learned to trust my gut. I learned that expectation is not always the best. I learned to let go of control.
I also learned how important community is. I learned how to ask for help. I learned how to reach out. I learned how to make connections.
This road looked hella different from what I imagined it would look like. But I wouldn't have it any other way! In some ways, I am exactly where I started, but in other ways, I am lightyears ahead. It is hard to not be a little disappointed. But! I am grateful that I can continue to build. I am happy that I didn't (am not) let fear stop me! I am happy about the growth and the lessons. And maybe next year, I will have a different story to tell.
Let's talk about honesty...
As some of you might know my journey to where I am today started with me being tired of my own s**t, being honest with myself about where I was the problem in my own life.
Facing up to that and working on it, was incredibly liberating and I had huge shifts and made huge changes! It was kinda awesome.
Fast forward to today. For the past 2 weeks I have been really uncomfortable, in a space of feeling stuck, frustrated and just plain meh. I noticed that this has become a cycle. I am killing it, and then, for no apparent reason, back to a few weeks of feeling meh.
This is where honesty comes in. Healing and unlearning deeply ingrained patterns is never a linear process. It is like peeling away the layers of an onion. You do a bit and then boom! Another bit comes up when you are ready to deal.
I have discovered a whole new level of being honest with myself in the past 2 weeks! Witnessing how I shrink back the minute I am making a bunch of breakthroughs and the excuses I use to justify! Our inner saboteur is sneaky and very clever. But luckily, I know her song by now!
It is really easy to justify our choices, especially if they keep us safe in our familiar environment. That is just how our brains are wired. But it is up to us to make the choice to step into the unknown anyway. To live with our hearts wide open. To embrace the unfamiliar. To make better choices and live in alignment with who we want to be.
This past month, I have gone deeper into gratitude, deeper into meditation, sat with my discomfort and discovered even more compassion and love for myself.

Am I supposed to create content every day with advice, stories, tips, and such? Yes, yes I am. That is what we are taught in marketing school LOL. This is supposed to create an emotional connection, it has to be framed in such a way as to inspire you, and dangle the carrot of feeling better, a possible solution to a problem you have in front of your nose. Position me as an authority and go-to person in my niche.
We all consume so much content every day don't we. Even me, and it is a lot. It is overwhelming sometimes.
So I ask myself, do I want to add to your overwhelm? Or do I want to honestly serve from a place of helping, creating value, and making actual connections?
I have been diligently creating content for a long time. Sometimes consistently and sometimes not. Sometimes you might see it, sometimes you don't π€·ββοΈ Do I enjoy creating content? Sometimes. But mostly no. I mean, I do want you to book sessions with me, after all, it is how I make a living. And every time I get a booking I do a little happy dance! I honestly love doing what I do.
I don't know what the right thing is, I am figuring out the balance of having a business, marketing in a way that feels right, and attracting my soul clients who want to pay me for my services. Using what I have learned and applying it in a way that works for my tribe and me.
So in the meantime, I am going to create when I feel inspired. But what I am going to do most is reach out. Because that is what I really want. To connect. Get to know you. Not because marketing school tells me to churn out content so I can be noticed. But because the deeper I go into this work, the more I experience and see that we are all connected, we all struggle with the same stuff on some level. We all crave connection.
And that is what I want to do. Connect.

Be that as it may, I share this stuff because I did these things in my life and it has or currently is helping me and if I can help one of you, then that is a good thing. And when I started on my journey, I would've found it helpful so hence, sharing.
I FREAKING LOVE figuring out how things work, one of the things I looked into because I needed to understand was how my brain works. Now I am no neuroscientist obviously, but some stuff is easy to understand. I LOVE combining hard facts like how your brain works, with energy healing because sometimes we need a little push beyond science.
Here are 2 ways you can regain calm in your life:
π. Label your emotions - You got to name it to tame it. This action moves your thinking from emotional/reactive to the neocortex of the brain where rational thought takes place. It creates calm, which helps you find better solutions, see things from a different perspective. Also, write this s**t down!! Why do I always say journal? I found a scientific explanation for you - Daniel Siegel explains, βWriting in a journal activates the narrator function of our minds. Studies have suggested that simply writing down our account of a challenging experience can lower physiological reactivity and increase our sense of well-being.β BOOM!!!
π. Challenge your perspective - Play devil's advocate (or talk to someone else who will), get curious about what is going on in your head, ask questions, inspect the situation from different angles, ask yourself what the truth is.
π. Meditate and S**U so you can hear your guidance
These are 2 powerful tools you can use, to help your brain process the s**t going on for you right now and 1 semi woowoo one. Although meditation is also science....

My kids bought me this little cup/pot vibe for my birthday one year.
I never really used it even though I really love it. Drinking fancy tea out of fancy cups was an idea that I loved, I wanted to be the person who does that just because. I wanted to be the person who didn't need a reason or occasion to have fancy tea from fancy cups.
It has taken me a long time to give myself permission to buy the fancy tea, and have the fancy tea, poured from my beautiful gift, just because on a ordinary Friday.

I believe that it is so important for women to come together in groups. To share their stories, to learn that it is safe to be among other women, and be vulnerable about who you are, what you have been through, and share.
The most beautiful thing about these groups is how each time, the group is perfect, the women in the group are such a good fit for each other. And witnessing, and holding space is absolutely beautiful!

Facing up to our own s**t is such an important part of our journey back to self and our healing process.
Since as far back as I can remember, I always felt like if something went wrong it was somehow my fault, or if someone was upset, my fault. Somehow I made everything that happened my fault!
I congratulated myself on my sensitivity, empathy, and self-awareness. But the truth was that I was totally in a victim mindset. Sure, this was caused by certain events in my life. But I was completely unaware.
When I got sick of my own bulls**t and decided that I needed to change my life. Facing up to the fact that I was making myself a martyr/victim, was kinda hard! I never considered myself a victim of anything. But, there I was woe is me'ing, complaining, blaming, and taking everything personally. It is not always comfortable to realise and face up to the parts of ourselves that are not that great.
But this absolutely needed to change if I was to make any progress in my life. Realising that not everything was about me π
was a huge step forward for me. And it took forgiveness on my part to myself and acceptance.
Rewiring and unlearning is an ongoing process, but I can tell you, that when you change your mindset, it can be life-changing!
If you are reading this, know you can too! There is no shame in admitting our less than desirable behaviours. And there is also no point to keep them hidden from ourselves. Being miserable is no way to live!
You got this Goddess! Whatever you are facing right now, you can get through it! I believe in you.
Why are you allowing the voice in your head to control you?
You know it is not the truth. Yet you shrink, make yourself small, and allow it to hold you back in life.
What do you think is going to happen if you say "F*ck you! I am not listening to you anymore!"...
Will people be shocked? Will you feel uncomfortable?
Maybe yes, but so what? The only one who is being harmed here is you. And you are doing it to yourself. Thinking thoughts about how you are not good enough, how s**t you are, and criticising your body, appearance, and the way you do things is literally a form of self-harm.
You are in control of that.
Love yourself anyway.
Give yourself the compassion you need.
Treat yourself with kindness.
Stop talking s**t about yourself! That voice in your head is lying to you. You deserve to be loved. You deserve to flourish. You deserve joy.
And whoever doesn't like you shining and standing in your power can go find less.

The last thing I want to do is project an image of perfection.
I am not yet where I want to be, I am still healing from a lot of stuff, I still get triggered and I make mistakes.
After all, that is what it means to be human. We are ever-evolving creatures. I am a completely different person from what I was even 2 years ago.
It is this process of unlearning, trying, tweaking, adjusting, and releasing that I want to share with you guys. So you can understand and see that this "work" we do is not an aim to perfection. It is simply to feel better. To let go of our burdens, slice through our limiting beliefs and carve out a little happiness for ourselves.
We do not need to live a life unfulfilled.
We deserve to feel good.
We deserve joy.
We deserve to be treated with love and kindness.
And all that starts with us. We need to create that for ourselves.
Not waiting till we are ready.
Not looking for a partner that will fulfill our needs.
Not being a martyr.
Not striving for perfection.
But be happy being us. Being happy in our imperfection. Celebrating our existence as we are. Still learning, ever-evolving, growing.

π Maybe your best life is living a quiet life in the countryside with chickens and growing your own food.
π Maybe your best life is being present with your family and creating memories.
π Maybe your best life is simply doing your best every day.
π Or maybe your best life is full of travel and adventure.
You get to decide what living your best life is for you.
And once you decide, you get to take the steps to adjust your way to reach that.
It shouldn't feel like pressure or give you anxiety or make you want to roll your eyes.
If you don't feel happy with your life, sit down, be honest with yourself, what would it look like for YOU to live your best life, and break achieving that down into small baby steps.
You got this!
