A very heart felt congratulations to the "Waste to fuel initiative" for making to the IChemE Global Awards 2020 finalist list under the Energy category.
The "Waste to fuel initiative" is a collaborative project with a research team across three continents that contribute to the development of a modular technology to produce fuel from waste (https://www.wastetofuelinitiative.com/).
The initiative includes researchers from your very own Catalysis Institute, in Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Cape Town (South Africa), the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun (India) and the Laboratório Nacional de Luz Síncrotron, Campinas (Brazil).
The IChemE Global Awards celebrate chemical, process and biochemical engineering excellence and are widely considered as the world’s most prestigious chemical engineering awards.
So this is a great achievement for the team.
Well done, A/Prof Broadhurst!

A while back we did a drive for clothes, sanitary pads (Thank you EBESC and UCT IAPO) and books.
The idea here is to promote literacy, carrying for one another and breaking stereotypes and challenges in our country and continent.
The event will see the boys distributing the sanitary pads to the girls on the day.
We expect to be having 40 students from Bulumko Secondary School and Zonnebloem Nest Snr.
We are inspired to reach out to the UCT communities and its environs to come see the work of these two organisations and also contribute towards this initiative in terms of sanitary pads, books and clothes for the young and old.
10 DAYS LEFT TO APPLY!
