Christmas is a season for kindling the fire for hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart. May you feel that as you celebrate Xmas.
Another business that can be very lucrative and if you willing to work hard and do ur research
Importing clothes in bulk.
Think about it. A skirt in China can cost $0.30 that's R4.32
Same skirt you find at the flea market selling for R60.00 and people will still buy it and even sell it for R150.00
Ask yourself. How did it get here and who made the most profit?
40ft container can fit 20 pallets plus.
Each pallet can load 600 clothing items.
Meaning you can import atleast 10000 clothing items with a container.
At R5 per item. That's R50000.00 for the items excluding shipping and import duties.
Add taxes and shipping costs. Your talking R120k plus.
Meaning an item you bought in China for R5 is now R12.00
Sell each item for R20 to vendors.
You then make R80000.00 profit.
You then repeat the process. You need to supply wholesalers, retailers and vendors.
Before you even invest. Make sure that when the items arrive they will all be sold in less than a week.
In other words . Build a market first for your business. Work negotiate and research.
Immigrants have taken over in this industry.
It's all about risk but with R120k it's a business that can make you atleast. R80k every two months.
How to get a permit?
About import permits
If you are planning to bring controlled goods, used or second-hand goods, waste or scrap into the country, you first need to register as an importer with the South African Revenue Service (Sars) and then apply to the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC)(link is external) for an import permit.
An import permit ensures that the goods you intend importing, conform to the safety, quality, environmental and health requirements of the country. They must also comply with the provisions of international agreements.
Import permits also help to control the inflow of goods of a strategic nature or smuggled goods.
The policy that applies to the importation of goods differs from one sector to another. Most new goods are exempt from import control measures. However, all used goods, second-hand goods, waste and scrap are subject to import control measures.
What you should do
Register as an importer at Sars.
Go to ITAC or download the applicable form
Fill in the forms
Submit the forms to the Directorate: Import and Export Control at ITAC.
Note:
You can have a list of goods that are subject to import control measures(link is external) posted, faxed or e-mailed to you if you provide ITAC with your contact details.
If you need policy information on the importation of specific goods, provide the particulars of goods to be imported to ITAC’s import and export control office.
How long does it take
In most instances import permits are issued within five working days.
How much does it cost
Itac does not charge service fees but you will have to pay customs duty to Sars. Customs duty is calculated as a percentage of the value of the goods (set in the schedules to the Customs and Excise Act). For more information on Sars customs duty, visit the Sars website.
