Hermanus Child & Family Services
Hermanus Child & Family Services (previously Child Welfare Hermanus) is a designated child protection organisation based in Hermanus.
Established in 1944, we render social and developmental services to children, families and communities. We work within our demarcated service areas of Mount Pleasant, Zwelihle, Sandbaai, Onrus, Vermont and Paradise Park, Hermanus. These services include statutory services; prevention, early intervention and reintegration programmes; early childhood development; and foster care.
Spotting signs of child abuse can be challenging, but is essential.
Physical abuse:
Bruising and other injuries are a normal part of life for a young child. However, they usually occur in the areas indicated in green in the picture. Keep an eye out for Injuries shaped like objects, or burns. Injuries on parts of the body indicated in red in the picture can be cause for concern.
If you suspect that a child has been or is being abused, please follow the process on our website: https://hcfs.org.za/report-child-abuse/
Dornay and Aileen are always ready to welcome you with heart-warming smiles, and to help you find a great bargain.

Social workers are the voice for children who have endured trauma.
But standing up for children's rights in court isn’t easy. Social Workers face immense pressure and opposition (sometimes persecution) to ensure these vulnerable children are heard and protected, often in the face of complex legal battles. Their courage and dedication are what give these children hope for a brighter future. 💪
Join The Family Tree team and help transform lives! Your time supports vulnerable children and families in need.

Liard Ziemann and Hiren Lachman of Aberdare recently handed over a car-load of equipment to complete our new play therapy room.
Hermanus Child and Family Services' play therapy gently guides traumatized children toward healing, offering them a safe space to express, trust, and rebuild their shattered worlds through play.

We believe that the absence of caring and involved fathers is one of the biggest challenges facing families in South Africa.
When children, both boys and girls, grow up without positive male role models, they can be influenced by harmful ideas about masculinity, leading to serious problems like gender-based violence, violence against children, teen pregnancies, substance abuse, and other crimes.
Our program focuses on addressing these issues by promoting responsible fatherhood and positive male mentorship to help create safer and healthier communities for all children.

Children in our town endure unimaginable horrors through various forms of abuse—sexual assault (including r**e), physical violence, emotional maltreatment, and gross neglect.
Social workers face immense challenges daily, often risking their safety to rescue and protect these vulnerable children. Their dedication and bravery are crucial in breaking the cycle of abuse.
