It feels so surreal as it’s been a dream of mine for so long🙈 And who better to be lining up next to than the smiling assassin i think we’ve both suffered Epic Pomo and fomo long enough😅

I’m super stocked for this opportunity - more so as registration will be on my birthday🎉🥳

2023 is a year with big goals in mind and so far it’s started well with my 4th finish and a first for the ☺️🙏🏾

First time doing this race and to say I’m excited is an exaggeration! Temps are going 🔥🔥 out in the Bokkeveld and so managing hydration will be key, but knowing and their hospitality we’ll be more than covered!

my first Century on the Volcano Circuit for my last ride for 2022.. what a cycling year it’s been. I still can’t believe I logged more mileage indoors and out in a post-pandemic year!

I recently rode the trails adventure park, a relatively new bike park in Sunninghill bordering Leeuwkop prison..

It’s an awesome trail, with some steep climbs, technical bits and fun flow segments. We did the red route which is a 45km loop with 775m of elevation.

A few tips for anyone that might want to try out this loop

1. The 45km is not to be underestimated, it’s a tough loop. Prepare like you’re going to a race- carry own hydration, nutrition, spares. There’s no water stops along the route
2. As it’s new trails, there’s a fair amount of riding on grass at the start (I tend not to be a fan of this)
3. Exercise caution- some sections aren’t properly marked so you need to stay focused
4. Some sections of the trail don’t drain well, so unless you’re keen on a mud fest avoid going just after the rains
5. At about 39km the red route ends (the interconnecting segment was closed off) so you have to double back and join the yellow to finish off..

All in all a fun and challenging course, do check it out!!😁

With about a month to go till the next edition of the presented by this December “break” is all about T.I.T.S, riding dirty is the order of the day!!

I’ll be going for my 5th and pushing for a 4th finish after this years heat 🔥🔥🔥 derailed plans of becoming a but we push on, because you don’t just ride it you 😅
