Celebrating life and humanity in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
On April 27th, South Africa commemorates Freedom Day, a pivotal moment in history marking the end of apartheid and the dawn of democracy. It's a day to reflect on the struggles, sacrifices, and triumphs that have shaped the nation's journey towards freedom and equality for all its people. Freedom Day celebrates the diversity, resilience, and unity of South Africans as they continue to build a better, more inclusive future together.
Igoda Beach, my beautiful home town.
East london, my hometown, the place of my birth. My connection grows stronger with everyday, no matter how dire the economy, or how bad the news is. For me, it will always be home. The beaches, my favourite Igoda. I have travelled and done my fair share of sailing around the world and to me, this beach, where I learned to swim in the lagoon, where my Daddy taught me to cheat, by digging my hands in the soft sand and pull my way forward in the water... where I caught my first guppie, using periwinkles from the rocks and throwing the guppies back into the tidal pool, only to come back for me....where people cared for each other and do their best no matter what life throws at them. Some of the hardiest, happiest people I know come from and still live here. My happy place. This is Butterbum on Igoda beach - yes, she landed her bum in the butter!! 🐹🐠🐴🏄♀️🎹⛱💘
