Akoma is an Akan word and symbol, a native language from Ghana. The word is ambiguous and translates to heart, patience and tolerance. Akoma symbolises the love that exists in the dance community for the art that we share. The qualities patience and tolerance are qualities that one not only needs on the dance floor but should be exercised in life as well. The festival seeks to encourage love, peace, tolerance and unity within the dance community as well as to put African artists on the map.
The festival came about to celebrate Dance Spiritβs annual anniversary and to bring local and international schools and artist together to celebrate and enjoy afro-latin music and dance.
The festival seeks to ensure a whole lot of fun and partying with 40% workshops and 60% partying.
