Tannie is an absolutely lovely cat that loves the companionship of humans and their attention. She just adores being in the presence of her humans and also laying on your lap.
Tannie can be a little shy at times, but when she's comfortable, she's so loving and playful. She loves her high places so she can also mind her own business.

Amoray is a young, vivacious crossbreed puppy with a heart full of love. Though initially shy, Amoray warms up quickly, revealing her playful nature. She's curious and adventurous, always eager to explore new environments.

Survivor is a medium size, crossbreed male dog. He has a beautiful medium hair coat that will require some grooming. He gets along with other dogs, however he does not like cats.

Venus is a medium size, crossbreed female dog.a gentle soul with a heart full of love. Her loyalty is unwavering, and her friendly nature is infectious.Venus gets along with other dogs and people.

Myster is a very gentle, laid-back medium-haired tabby cat. He enjoys laying on laps, as he's very affectionate with people.

Melica is a young, crossbreed female puppy. She is a fun and energetic young lady looking for a home to call her own. She gets along with other dogs, loves playing and enjoys attention from people.

Max is a young, medium size dog. Max is a very special dog with a lot of love to give, despite some of his challenges he is a happy, friendly dog. It was initially suspected that he is partially sighted. After medical evaluations and medication it was confirmed that he can see. He does have some neurological difficulties that cause him to interact with the environment different than other dogs. He will need a very special family to patiently love him and allow him to be a happy dog. He will do well in a family that have only adults or older children.

Grace is a young, small/medium size female dog. She came into the shelter with an injury to her eye, the vet successfully removed the eye. Grace is very cuddling and loving when she is comfortable around new people. Having only one eye definitely does not slow her down!

Our nation-wide Clear the Shelter initiative is in full swing! Come by the shelter to hear how the adoption process works and meet the animals available for adoption. 13-19 May all adoption fees will be reduced with 50%!

Cameron is a sweet-hearted male dog. He is about 8 years old, but still has a spark in his eyes and a bounce in his step!

How your life can change in a day ….

OUPIE 🤎 has been a resident of Botriver for many years . He often pops in at our Botriver charity shop for a drink of water and a little snack. We have a blanket behind the desk where he sometimes come to rest before toddling back home.

Today his owner called to ask us to fetch him to put to sleep. When we got to the house he was lying on his cushion on the stoep and he stood up to greet us with a tail wag.

When we asked why she thought he had to be euthanised her answer was that he’s old and annoying and they don’t want him on the stoep anymore!!

You can only imagine the inner strength it takes to keep calm to answers like that.

If you are dealing with that type of mentality sometimes it is better just to remove the dog & not even try to reason with them as God only knows what they will do to get rid of it.

When she came out with her R200 contribution towards his euthanasia and knee’d him away we told her to keep it and rather buy a pot plant to make her stoep look pretty and loaded him up.

So now we have an elderly brown dog who’s life is depending on some kind person to offer him a home for his last few years.

Our allocated vet cages are full and the only place we have is the spare cage at the back of the clinic at the moment. He is so unsure of this new environment and it’s breaking our hearts to see his confusion.

Our vet said he has a strong heart, unblocked his a**l glands and dipped him to kill off the fleas and other than that he’s a healthy dog.

The adoption fee of R1100 will include his sterilisation, vaccination, microchip, deworming and flea treatment to date of adoption.

This 4 month old sweet girl is Ginny, a cute mix breed that is homeless at the moment. She will be a medium size dog and will make a wonderful loyal companion to any family.
Ginny is a happy dog, bouncy and always in a good mood! Loves everybody, is bright, clever and very cuddly.
