This year’s commemoration of Youth Month, will be held under the theme “Actively advancing socio-economic gains of our democracy”.

Navigating the summit through the graveyard shift is Captain Kolobe from the South African Police Service (SAPS) presenting on Overcoming Corruption: Tools and Strategies for Young Professionals

Ms. Patience Ntuli CA(SA) presented on the future of working in Local Government: Adapting to new norms. She shared on how Young Professionals can use the technology they have to their betterment. They should also use their knowledge on technology to assist seasoned professionals at work achieve better results using technology. This will get them noticed as dynamic problem solvers by their seniors.

Mr. Michael Chauke from SALGA National Office, focused on corruption in the public sector and how it affects service delivery and the lives of our communities. He said "Strong consequence management,
Effective internal controls and Segregation of duties need to be put in place to stop corruption"

Ms. Vukosi Nkhata, Deputy Chairperson of CIGFARO Mpumalanga Branch presented on financial integrity in Local Government.

She said "The crucial part of financial integrity is ensuring transparency and accountability in the financial system."

Vukosi emphasised that training on new legislation and technological developments is an integral part of financial integrity.

SALGA Mpumalanga is represented by Dr. Derick Ndlovu at the YP Summit, who gave a word of support to CIGFARO Mpumalanga, encouraging the Young Professionals to confidently enter the Local Government space emphasising that they must do their work with pride and not to be shy to introduce change in a respectful way.

Straight after the singing of the National Anthem, the CIGFARO Vice President Mr. Amos Cia Twala officially opened the summit and welcomed MPAC Chairperson of the hosting district, Dr. Ndlovu, members of the Executive Committee - CIGFARO Mpumalanga Branch and the Young Professionals in attendance. He further appreciated the opportunity to welcome the youth in Mpumalanga as he is also from the province born in Hendrina. Vice President encouraged young professionals to join CIGFARO today!
