Police have arrested one of the alleged criminals who was involved in the deadly shooting that took place in Rosettenville South of Johannesburg on Monday. The suspect was arrested in Tembisa Gauteng East on Wednesday when police officers raided the premises.
The suspect arrested is believed to be the one who shot at the helicopter, which wounded both the pilot and the co-pilot. The foiled heist which took place on Monday resulted in eight suspects dead and four policemen injured. We later learned that one passed away and 10 suspects were arrested.
Among the dead suspects was an ex-military member. The ten suspects appeared in court on Wednesday facing charges of murder, hijacking vehicles, attempted murder, possession of unlicensed fi****ms and ammunition, and possession of explosives. The suspects will make an appearance in court again in March.
Law enforcement said the search was on for eight suspects who were involved in the fatal shooting which took the life of a police officer. The arrest of the suspect found in Tembisa means that seven suspects are still missing.
The arrest of the suspect in Tembisa has been significant, because four rifles, ammunition, and police and GS4 gear were recovered at the house. Gauteng Police Commissioner, Elias Mawela, said his biggest concern is the number of police who have been found involved in the crime. The Rosettenville incident just shows that there are corrupt officers in the police force.
Thank you for helping eradicate criminal activities, thank you to one of our community member whom helped us to locate a stolen vehicle.
