The projects are the TSSA Manufacturing Factory and YFPO Paintline Facility, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable and innovative engineering. Well done to the entire professional team, contractors and all our EDS staff involved with these prestigious projects. The awards ceremony will take place on 3 October 2024. 𝐏𝐄𝐏𝐊𝐎𝐑 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐃 ------------------------------------------------------ We are pleased to share that the new Pepkor Warehouse, based in Hammarsdale, KZN has successfully been completed and handed over to the client. EDS is very proud of the project. As Structural Engineers, we received the 2023 Steel Award for “Best Project in KZN”. Seeing a project of this magnitude to completion always fills us with joy and thankfulness. 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓: 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧 EDS Engineers is the Structural Engineers on the new commercial development in Centurion appointed by Power of Co Developers (Power of Co). Rockfields Village Centurion will be a safe, family-focused, mixed-use destination, located next to the N14 highway. At the heart of Rockfields Village is an outdoor green square with unique outdoor play areas for children, wrapped with showrooms for artisans and creators of one-of-a-kind masterpieces, hand-made products, entertainment and, unique food experiences. Also a 500-seat auditorium to host live music events, product launches and theatre performances. LP9 Spec Warehouse Development, Johannesburg ----------------------------------------------------------- EDS Engineers is the appointed Structural and Civil engineers to the LP9 Spec Warehouse Development in Jukskei View Johannesburg for ATTACQ Limited (Attacq Limited). The development includes three warehouses with a total footprint area of +-14 000m², including 1550m² offices on the ground and first floor levels. Structural Engineering design included: • Structural steel roof with spans up to 24m x 23m and 10,5m clear height. • Concrete foundations, columns, loading docks and Tilt-Up walls. • Large panel fibre-reinforced Industrial concrete floor to FM2 tolerance. • Double-storey concrete framed office buildings. Civil Engineering included: • Earthworks design and optimisation. • Block retaining walls. • Hardstands for loading yards. • Roads & paving for parking areas. • Stormwater management. • Water and sewer services reticulation. PROJECT UPDATE: Monteer Warehouse – Johannesburg -------------------------------------------------------------- The Monteer Warehouse Project for Growthpoint Properties (Growthpoint), started in January 2023, is nearing completion. The 25 000 m2 sized warehouse is an impressive 360 m long with a 13.5 m clear height and FM2 floor to accommodate high racking. STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING included: The design of the new warehouse structure, including • Structural steel roof with spans of 24m x 24m and 13,5m clear height. • Concrete foundations, columns, loading docks and, • Large panel fibre-reinforced Industrial concrete floor to FM2 tolerance. • Alterations to the existing office block. CIVIL ENGINEERING included: • Earthworks design and optimisation. • Hardstand for loading yard areas. • Roads and paving for parking areas. • Stormwater management. • Water and sewer services reticulation. PROJECT UPDATE: Castle Gate Mixed-Use Development Appointed by Atterbury Property, EDS Engineering is truly proud to be the principal engineers for the upgrading of the external civil services of the Castle Gate Development. The 22nd and 23rd of July 2023 marked the placement of eight x 70-tonne pre-cast beams for constructing the new bridge on Solomon Mahlangu Drive across the N1 Freeway which consists of five lanes in each direction. As a result, the bridge will alleviate the traffic congestion that has plagued Pretoria East for decades. The project includes upgrading the Solomon Mahlangu Drive dual carriageway from Boeing Street (at Waterkloof High School) to the R21 Interchange. The works also comprise all internal road upgrades to serve the Castle Gate Development. A special thanks to the project team, Atterbury Properties, Jodan Construction and Civilcon. 𝐔𝐉 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞, 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐠 The UJ Rescue Simulation Centre is located at the University of Johannesburg’s Doornfontein campus. EDS Engineers is the Structural and Civil Engineers appointed for this modern, forward-thinking development. At a completed size of about 1000m², the lower levels of the structure are concrete with a 5-meter-deep wave generation pool which will be used for training simulations of adverse conditions. To suspend the helicopter fuselage, the upper levels are covered by a warehouse roof structure and gantry crane. Located in the Tshwane City Centre, the development is progressing well, with completion estimated for the end of 2023. Respublica Paton House ----------------------------- Situated at 29 Golf Road in Pietermaritzburg, Respublica Paton House is a newly built student residential building, providing more than 485 beds for students attending the nearby university. EDS Engineers is the appointed Structural and Civil Engineers for this project consisting of 7 separate constructed multistorey buildings. The premise includes modern amenities like a swimming pool, braai area and gym facilities. EDS Engineers is appointed as Structural and Civil Engineers for this +/- 28 000 m² project located in Rosslyn, Pretoria. The facility will consist of over-head cranes and tank pits requiring intricate coordination by a highly specialised consultant team. Other structural engineering includes the design of steelwork, reinforced concrete foundations, framed ancillary buildings, conveyor trenches, loading docks and more. Project Review JB4, Data Centre – Kempton Park, JHB EDS Engineers offered Structural and Civil Engineering services with this world class Data Centre in Johannesburg. Phase 1 of this facility is currently in construction. Structural Engineering included: Two storey reinforced concrete frame building. Building consists of highly loaded floor for specialised operations. In-situ dolomitic soil conditions, with inherent collapsibility, necessitated specialised earthworks and foundation design. Project Highlight: Massmart Warehouse – Riversands, Johannesburg EDS Engineers is the proudly appointed Structural Engineers for the Massmart's Riversands Warehouse. This 70 000m2 sized project is well underway and is set to be completed at the end of August 2021.
