AFM Spesialised Ministry: Check-in

Deaf Friendly is one of the AFM’s specialised ministries with a mission of seeking, serving and enabling the deaf. We asked Dirk Venter, the Director of Deaf Friendly to tell us more about keeping momentum during difficult times:

“Through the Deo Gloria Fellowship for the Deaf, we maintain regular contact with our members by sending them weekly sermons. We have several members that are ill and we intercede with daily prayer for those in distress. During the last 18 months, we received an alarming and increasing number of requests for food and financial support - specifically from families with deafness. Currently, we are assisting 23 families with a weekly food parcel. These parcels provide a family of 4 with a balanced diet for one week. Further, we have 20 deaf students enrolled for Accredited Electrical Training at the Professional Career Development College. Pray with us that they will complete their training successfully.”

From the Pulpit
10 June 2020

Isaiah 64:8 says; Yes You, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter, we are all the work of Your hand.
One of the worst mistakes u can make is to go through life being against urself. Some people live with the feeling that’s always telling them, “ U are not good enough.” U have heard that playing in ur mind for so long that’s it’s become normal.
U may have some areas in which u still struggle n need to improve, we all do, but being down on urself is not going to help u do better. Keep ur flaws in perspective. God is the Potter. U are the clay. God is the One who is making n molding u.
It may not be happening as fast as u would like, but u don’t control the timetable. Will u trust Him in the process u are right now? Will u enjoy where u are while God is in the process of changing u? U are on the Potter’s wheel! God is still working with u in the midst of ur challenges. He never left ur side. Trust Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the Potter and I am the clay. Thank You for where I am right now, faults and all, and that You are molding and making me. Help me to stop being against myself and simply trust You with the process for further change by the power of the Holy Spirit in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Dear RLA members

Announcement/ Memo

Please note that the assembly leadership has met today and discussed the issue of opening the church as the per the directives of the guidelines supplied the President of the church. President G.M Mahlobo.

We will not open our church gathering for now, as we are busy with preparations. Once we are done with preparations and assessment of safety we will announce the gathering opening date (Probably during August month). The safety plans must be in place before, and the church must be sanitazed. Please continue praying and worshiping at home.

Remember church is not closed but its just gathering in the church building that is closed.
We encourage all our members who have whatsapp app please ask any member of the governing body to add you on Assembly whatsapp group to receive messages from the Pastor every Sundays and Wednesdays.

Regards,

Assembly Administration

AFM Family,

It is with a grateful heart that I write this message to you today. We welcome the President’s speech last night that indicated that churches are now allowed to re-open under Level 3 of the Lockdown. LEVEL 3 WILL COMMENCE ON 1 JUNE 2020.

We thank God for answering our prayers in this regard. AFM Members, thank you for supporting each other and reaching out to your communities. This is truly a time for the church to be the hands and feet of Jesus – and I want to encourage you to faithfully continue with this mission.

LIMITED CHURCH ACTIVITY UNDER LEVEL 3

The National Office Bearers are now working on operational plans for preparation- and safety protocols. These will be communicated through to your Pastors and Assembly Leaders. Please wait for this formal communication from them that will give more detail and direction as to what will be happening next.

To summarise, limited church activity will be allowed under the following conditions, as announced by the President, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa:

1. Assemblies are allowed to have services, on condition that the number of people do not exceed 50. The smaller the venue, the less members will be allowed.

2. Social distancing rules will apply, and all members are required to wear face masks.

3. The assemblies must ensure that meeting places are cleaned and sanitised before- and after services.

4. Any religious activity that could lead to the spread of the virus, should rather be avoided.

5. Religious Leaders are now seen as essential workers for the purpose of counselling and leading funerals subject to strict Covid-19 safety measures.

A NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER 🇿🇦

Further the President requested a National Day of Prayer on Sunday, 31 May 2020 – which will be Pentecost Sunday. AFM Members are called to participate in this prayer action, in their homes, and specifically pray for: Every person affected by the Corona-virus, every person that lost a loved one to the virus and every person on the front line fighting the virus. We are not yet through the crisis, but I want to ensure you that this will also pass.

Let us continue to keep our eyes and focus on Jesus, as HE continues to lead us through this challenging times.

Yours in Christ
Past. M.G. Mahlobo
