Last day at Kingdom Boutique Day Care. It was a bitter sweet moment and mom raved about this cutie's art work and all the cute pictures. Kingdom Boutique 's babies formed part of our family and home. We will forever cherish these moments and we wish them well on their journey ahead!

Its with the greatest sadness that we decided to close down Kingdom Boutique Day Care.

Our amazing staff has each gone a new direction and we wish them well.

Focussing on three businesses has been amazing, but quite tough on us, especially dealing with staff being frequently sick , and as we have two beautiful very young children ourselves that needs a lot of care and attention, I need to be more present with them and have more balance dividing my attention to my Photography and Rawson Sales business.

September Saturday Workshop

We decided to have one of our workshops on a Saturday due to popular demand and having requests from moms that can't attend in the week.

Venetia only does classes with 6 babies at most so that she can individually work with each baby.

The moms and dads had an amazing time! Thanks again Teacher V!

~September Workshop ~

We had so much fun with teacher V from Moms and Babes Paarl and a wonderful insightful seminar with Sr Nicolene from Paarl that answered all our questions about Food introduction and food allergies.

The mommies and their babies had a learned so much and we can't wait for the next workshop. Venetia puts so much love and effort in what she does. Her expertise and experience with babies are unmatched amazing!

Our daily activities involves music, using instruments, fine motor skills, big motor skills, nature, language development,story telling, art, puppet mimics, games to encourage social skills and normal routine things.

Our Moses baskets are placed on the floor to encourage babies to roll over, lay on their tummy and eventually crawl out on their own in a safe space.

We encourage them to do things independently. It gives them so much confidence and helps them learn much faster.

These little ones will surprise you as they leap through their milestones!

Texture play, sorting, colour and having loads of fun!

Both too excited to see each other to take their nap. Lol

Learning new vocabulary is fun!

Interesting side note: During my teaching degree, we learnt that counting every day objects, frequently, helps develop number sense.

How do you know if your child only memorised the sequence of numbers or have number sense?

- Put 10 of the same objects infront of them and ask them, to count out 5.

Nature is so beautiful...

Children see so much more than us. Neverending schedules, workloads, being on time for appointments, makes us too busy to stop and take a look at the world from a child's view.

Make time today to sit down on their level and look at what they see. You might get a whole new perspective on life!

Shared book reading!
Reading to your child(ren) daily greatly benefits their language development!
Shared reading with children is a fun and easily accessible activity that does not require a lot of preparation, time, or money.

- Follow the child's lead and let them choose a book to read together.
-Let them tell you WHY they chose that specific book.
- Look at the cover page and discuss what the book will be about (e.g. This book is about a shark that is sad.)
- Let them help you turn the pages.
- Read the story / discuss the pictures - adapt how you 'read' the book according to your child's age.
- Ask questions about the story (e.g. ' Why is he sad?)
- Let them show you items by pointing to pictures (e.g. ' Where is the shark?')
- Have FUN!

Choosing an appropriate book and reading it with a child using language strategies, can facilitate joint attention (the process of sharing an experience of observing by following gaze or pointing gestures) and language by allowing repetition and practice of phrases and concepts in the text. It is an excellent activity that can be incorporated into your nightly routine at home.

A child’s occupation is play. The focus of Occupational Therapists is meeting the needs of their clients so that they can reach functional goals. When it comes to kids, play is the main means of learning, development, interacting, and growth.

A child uses play to build skills needed for every aspect of their development. When a child is limited in the underlying skills needed to play, not only does their functional ability to build with blocks, color, pretend, imagine, and create suffer, but all of the skills they potentially acquire may be limited as well.

Safari Ltd sells these mini animals, insects and birds.

I decided to use this for our day care's pink imagnitive play preparation. And let me tell you, they played for hours!

Endless possibilities for the use of these mini's. We will definitely do an insect theme next!

Edible moon sand :

Prep: 5 mins
Cook: No cook

Ingredients

8 tbsp flour or cornflour
1 tbsp vegetable or sunflower oil
A few drops food colouring (optional)
Method

Put the flour in a bowl, then slowly stir in the oil and food colouring, if using.
Rub the oil and colouring through the flour with your fingertips, as if you were making pastry, until the mixture feels sandy and no oil is visible.

(You can also use pink jelly powder and food colouring to add colour)
(If you are making sand for a bit older kids( 3 plus), you can replace the oil with a fragranced baby oil.)
