Teenage pregnancy is when a woman under 20 gwts pregnant. It usually refers to teens between the ages of 15-19. Although, currently it includes girls as young as 10.
Causes of teenage pregnancy vary greatly. It may be linked to things such as lack of education and information about reproduction, peer pressure and early engagement of sexual activity.
Teenage pregnancy can impact young girls in a negative way such as not being able to have kids in future. In most cases the pregnancy can cause stress or even worse depression. Also you may find out that their check-ups at clinics clashes with their exams whereby they fail and end up with conclusions like "school is not for me" or "the future is no longer bright".
Teenage pregnancy also have negative impacts on the community. Teen girls find themselves no longer having an image or reputation to the community. Again the increase of teenage pregnancy which later lead to high rate of unemployment in the community.
Teenage pregnancy can be prevented in many ways such as reading books or scrolling the internet to find more information about pregnancies. Also the use of contraceptive, where you visit your nearest clinic and ask more about contraceptives. Again parents at home can also help reduce the pregnancy rate by educating their kids at home not only girls but boys too from an early age as 9-10years.
Teen girls are advised to visit their nearest libraries and get more sources of information about pregnancies, stress, impacts of pregnancy at an early age and do their own research.
